Now that money was plentiful, a sense of ease she’d never known before had emerged.

Stella had come to the western street—somewhere she wouldn’t have even glanced at before—with her companions to buy necessary items in advance for Ludina, who would soon arrive.

The western street was lined mainly with dressmakers, jewelers, and toy shops.

After letting Brin and Daren, who had tirelessly followed her around until now, each choose a gift for themselves, she bought hats and gloves for Mila and Lian.

When she had no money, she deliberately avoided looking at the items displayed in shop windows, but that was no longer the case.

She now had enough money to buy herself a splendid dress right away. Yet Stella kept finding her eyes drawn not to things for herself, but to items for others.

The place where Stella now stood still was neither a jeweler’s nor a dress shop—it was a toy store.

What she was gazing at was a dollhouse inside a transparent display case. The dollhouse resembled a miniature nobleman’s mansion, filled with exquisitely crafted furniture and tableware.

It had five rooms, each equipped with its own bed, blanket, vanity, and set of furniture.

“The children would absolutely love this.”

Just imagining how delighted the earth sprites would be if they received this made her want to go in and buy one immediately. Stella mentally calculated her available funds, trying to estimate how much the dollhouse might cost.

Everything Stella had bought so far was gifts for the Verdura Castle household; she hadn’t purchased a single thing for herself.

After hesitating repeatedly—going in, then deciding against it—Stella finally made up her mind and was about to step inside.

Just then, the shop door opened, and a man who appeared to be the owner came out, scanning Stella up and down with an annoyed scowl.

“Now every beggar under the sun loiters right in front of my shop. Hey, you’ll never afford anything in there, so stop standing there like a bad omen and scram. Business is already terrible enough as it is—tsk!”
