Hendrik replied in a bitter voice. He had been worried that this child might be crushed under the weight of the Schneider name.

No matter how much it was the heir’s fate, Hendrik had wished for that day to come as late as possible. Seeing himself think this way, he must truly be growing old.

At that moment, Marien, who had been silently sitting, shyly opened her mouth with an embarrassed expression. A faint wrinkle appeared on the bridge of her nose.

“It’s probably not for the reason you’re thinking, Grandfather.”

Only then did Hendrik turn his gaze toward her. Marien continued speaking, her eyes gentle as she looked at Joseph.

“Joseph has been darting in and out of Christoph’s office for the past few days, and yesterday, he apparently spilled ink all over an important contract.”

Hendrik unconsciously furrowed his brow and clicked his tongue. He stroked Joseph’s head and asked, knowing better than anyone his grandson’s stubborn nature.

“Christoph must have scolded you, right? But seeing you so spirited, you’ll surely grow up to be an exceptional person.”

“Hmm… no.”

Marien slowly shook her head. Hendrik’s eyebrows twitched.

“He just sighed once, then gently picked Joseph up and quietly set him down on the sofa.”

“Hmm… and then? Surely he didn’t spank Joseph’s bottom? Or shout at him with a fearsome face?”

“That was it.”

“That was it?”
