Marien murmured his earlier instructions to herself, carefully rehearsing each movement.
“Feet shoulder-width apart, left hand supporting the right wrist. Shoulder, arm, and muzzle aligned in a straight line. Muzzle slightly upward… hold your breath…”
Bang.
The recoil jolted Marien’s body backward. Christoph caught her.
“You still have four shots left. Fire them all, then we’ll check together. I suspect you hit the target again—your stance was flawless, Marien.”
Marien nodded. She lifted her gaze forward once more and pulled the trigger firmly.
