As if waiting for this moment, Count Schwein raised his hand. “Ugh,” the king groaned softly. Only then did he recall that Marquis Schneider wasn’t the only person demanding his attention.

“Count Schwein, you may speak.”

“I trust everyone here is aware of the incident that recently occurred in Blauberg. It is currently the most talked-about case in the capital, and protesters have even gathered before this very parliament. I shall not waste words.”

Count Schwein surveyed the assembly with a smug expression.

“His Highness Leonhard has never once demonstrated the conduct befitting a crown prince. This incident, in particular, starkly reveals his unfitness for the role. I hereby propose the removal of His Highness Leonhard from his position as crown prince. We cannot entrust him with governance.”

Count Schwein, who had long harbored resentment toward Leonhard, had finally repaid his debt. He looked toward the king with evident satisfaction.

Without even being granted the floor, the king retorted,

“An investigation into the events of that day is still ongoing. It is premature to discuss stripping the crown prince of his title over a matter not yet concluded.”

The chamber sank into uneasy silence. Royalists and their opponents glared at each other with clear displeasure. One after another, they took turns speaking, hurling accusations and criticisms.

Amid this sharp exchange, a page was seen approaching the king from behind. He whispered into the king’s ear, and the king’s face crumpled like paper.

“What did you say?”

At the king’s startled question, all those who had just been raising their voices fell silent. They exchanged bewildered glances, wondering what on earth had happened.

Slowly, the king turned his head toward Marquis Schneider. His brow twisted visibly.

“Lord Schneider.”
