I Became the First Love of the Impenetrable Male Lead (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 8
“That’s…”
I rolled my eyes and quickly inspected my appearance. Over my uniform, I was neatly draped in the white cloak bearing the emblem of the White Knights.
I should’ve just worn something plain.
Dressed like someone desperate to show off that I’m a White Knight, yet expecting a passing stranger to believe it—how absurd.
“Sir Knight?”
“Don’t worry about it. As a knight, I simply offered help because you seemed to need it…”
I suddenly stopped speaking, and Daisy’s cheeks twitched. Seeing the distress flicker across her pale face, I gave her a reassuring look and grasped my scabbard.
The burly man had already regained his senses and was slowly crawling away. I stepped lightly onto his chest and pressed the scabbard near his chin, making him squeeze his eyes shut tightly.
“I’m not going to do anything to you.”
Just then, I spotted a patrol of the city guard nearby and waved them over.
“What seems to be the matter?”
As the guards approached, Daisy hesitated and clutched my cloak again. Noticing her hunched shoulders, I subtly stepped in front of her and answered.
“These three men were harassing a young lady in broad daylight.”
“Might you be a knight of the White Knights?”
Meeting their somewhat awed—and rather uncomfortable—gaze, as if looking at someone they admired, I cleared my throat and nodded.
Wearing both the uniform and the cloak was definitely overkill, no matter how I thought about it.
“They’ll need serious punishment, I’d say.”
“Could you please describe the situation in more detail?”
“These men threatened to kidnap me.”
I turned abruptly at the sudden, sharp voice behind me. It was Daisy.
Though clearly nervous, she seemed determined to speak her mind.
“They threatened you?”
“I heard it too. They said something like, ‘We only look ahead,’ and threatened the young lady, asking what they’d do if they just ran off with her like this.”
Now that I thought about it, even though I was so obviously wearing the uniform and cloak of the White Knights, these men hadn’t even guessed who I was.
In the Fones Empire, there shouldn’t be anyone who doesn’t recognize the White Knights.
“These are truly despicable men.”
“Just to be safe, please investigate their backgrounds thoroughly as well.”
“Yes, understood.”
As the city guard led the three men away, Daisy let out a sigh of relief.
“It seems the situation’s been resolved, so I should probably be going now.”
“Thank you so much. I’d like to repay you—if you could just tell me your name…”
“It’s fine. I don’t expect any repayment.”
“But still…”
Daisy couldn’t even finish her sentence before a cough burst out. What I’d assumed was a light cough quickly turned into a painful, breathless fit.
I couldn’t just leave her like this.
“Are you all right?”
“I’m sorry… I just feel a bit chilled.”
Her eyes were glistening from all the coughing as she looked up at me.
Seeing her shoulders tremble faintly, I immediately took off my cloak and gently wrapped it around her.
“This is…”
Daisy looked back and forth between the cloak draped over her shoulders and me, her eyes wide.
“You should keep this on, at least, if you’re feeling unwell. Where are your maid or servants?”
“Well… I actually snuck out into the alley because I wanted some free time, so they’re probably looking for me right now.”
Ah, right. That’s how it was.
From the start, the jewel was just an excuse—Daisy had slipped away from her maid and servants to secretly explore the square, and that’s how she’d ended up entangled with Ian.
“Then let me accompany you to the main road.”
“No, my maid will be here soon. I can’t possibly trouble you this much…”
Daisy caught her breath, trying to suppress another bout of coughing.
In the original story, Daisy always seemed spirited, so her terminal condition never really hit home—but seeing her pale, frail face now filled me with sorrow.
If only I could change Daisy’s destined ending.

Lost in that thought, I recalled a scene from the original.
[“I’m truly grateful to you, my lord.”“My lady…”
“Thank you for helping me. You offered your aid without asking for anything in return…”
“I didn’t say I wanted nothing in return.”
Edwin, who had been gazing out the window, suddenly turned to look at me.
“Huh? What do you mean…?”
“All I ever needed was just one small smile from you, my lady.”
Just one small smile… what did that even mean?
“Could it be…?”
“You’re remarkably quick to catch on.”
Now I finally understood. Edwin was always smiling—but why did I feel such tender affection for him? Why did his dazzlingly beautiful smile sometimes make me feel strangely sad?
Edwin… had liked me.
And Daisy, you only realized it right before your death—how utterly pathetic.
I looked up at Edwin with a bitter, self-mocking smile. His eyes were already brimming with tears.
“If there’s a next life… then…”
“…”
“Would you be friends with me?”
“Anything… I’ll do anything for you.”]
Every time I read that passage, I’d burst into tears. Now that I’d actually met Edwin and Daisy, just remembering that scene made my heart ache.
This time, I really hoped they’d both find happiness.
“You’ll need it even more while you wait. And wearing this will keep those strange men from bothering you again, like earlier.”
“…Thank you.”

It didn’t turn out exactly as I’d imagined, but does this mean the original story has truly changed?
If I can alter things through my choices, like today…
I paused in the middle of the square and swallowed hard. A small hope had sprouted, but fear also coiled around me—the fear that my future now truly depended on my choices.
By the way, where on earth had Edwin disappeared to? He hadn’t shown his face this whole time.
I’d gone through all that trouble just to help him meet his destined partner.
Even if the original plot had already shifted, I couldn’t afford to let my guard down yet. There was no telling when or where Ian and Daisy might cross paths.
It’d be better if Edwin and Daisy met first.
“He couldn’t have gone off to eat, could he?”
Just as I was about to turn toward the restaurant Edwin and I often visited—
“Rosebelia?”
A completely unfamiliar face stood before me. Unfamiliar to me, but to Rosebelia, it was her very familiar father—Hermann.
“Big sister?”
“Sister!”
From the carriage behind Hermann emerged Kaiden and Vivian. And finally, stepping out last was—
“Oh, Rose?”
Olivia, dressed in an elegant gown.
What a picture-perfect, harmonious family they made. Yet instinctively, I knew there was no place for me within that circle.
“What are you doing in the square at this hour?”
“I had some business to attend to.”
Olivia, escorted by Hermann, stepped down from the carriage and approached me, her eyes half-lidded.
“Rose, we’re heading to a restaurant—why don’t you come with us?”
“No, I need to return to the knights’ barracks.”
“We haven’t properly shared a meal in ages. Don’t be like that…”
Olivia had already reached my side and linked her arm through mine in a friendly gesture. An instinctive aversion prickled through me, raising goosebumps.
“No, really, I’m fine.”
As I quickly pulled my arm away, I heard Hermann click his tongue in disapproval.

At the same time, a faint whisper of air brushed past my ear—almost like a quiet scoff…
Had Olivia just laughed?
“There’s no need for that.”
“Hermann, but still…”
“She clearly said she won’t come. We can’t drag her along by force.”
They hadn’t even visited once after their perfectly healthy daughter had been bedridden all day.
And now, meeting me for the first time since then, they didn’t ask if I was feeling better or show the slightest concern.
Hermann’s eyes held nothing but clear displeasure as he looked at me.
“Sister, aren’t you coming with us?”
Vivian rushed over and clutched tightly onto my sleeve.
“I…”
“Vivian, come to Papa. You too, that’s enough—come along. Let’s take the children and go.”
“Hermann.”
“Hurry up, now.”
As Olivia led Vivian toward the carriage, Kaiden quietly approached and asked,
“Sister, you really can’t come with us?”
“I’m sorry, but I have important duties to attend to.”
“I see. It’s a shame, but we’ll go together next time, sister.”
“Come on, Kaiden.”
At Hermann’s urging, Kaiden reluctantly joined Olivia’s side. Thus, the reunited family entered the restaurant across the street.
I stood there dumbly watching them go, then let out a hollow laugh.
Ah, I haven’t felt this way in so long—and yet it’s just as miserable as ever.
I don’t even fully accept them as family, so why do I feel this empty? I couldn’t even understand it myself.
Whether as myself or as Rosebelia, I’m just as clumsy in situations like this.
If only Edwin were here right now—he’d surely smooth things over with some polished, comforting words…
I stood there blankly for a long while before finally turning around, but my feet wouldn’t move easily. For a moment, I felt utterly lost—unsure of where to go.
Pull yourself together.
As I lightly patted my cheeks and lifted my head, unbelievably, right before my eyes—
“Senior?”
There stood Ian.
Seeing a carriage rapidly approaching from behind him, I didn’t even have time to greet him properly—I immediately grabbed the edge of his cloak.
“Danger…”
Caught off guard by my sudden tug, Ian’s pupils widened slightly. His large frame lost balance and tumbled forward, collapsing right onto me.
With nothing else to hold onto, his hands landed gently on my shoulders.
But what is this?
Now effectively trapped in Ian’s arms, I frowned slightly, feeling oddly out of place.
Something was definitely touching me…
My mouth fell open slightly as I realized the warm, soft sensation resting on my forehead.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
