The young wolf standing beside Hughgray, looking exactly like him, was none other than her son. Their son, who had undergone bestial transformation at merely five months old—far exceeding the usual pace.

Finally, as her reason returned from the paralysis of fear, Hughgray and she both realized it was absurd to think someone had taken Kai while they were defenselessly asleep. It was clearly their curious, adventurous boy who had slipped away quietly while his parents slept. After all, this was the child who never cried upon waking but instead always observed and played with things around him.

It was obvious Kai had turned into a wolf and immediately tiptoed off alone into the woods. How proud and delighted he must have felt, finally able to run freely as a wolf! He must have deliberately avoided making any sound and come all the way here just to play—only to run into a coyote pack.

The coyote pack, already confronting Kai, had long since fled in terror at the arrival of the tiger and the wolf.

She approached Kai to embrace the world’s most adorable baby wolf. She felt proud of her son for shifting so quickly into his beast form, worried about how he’d wandered alone to such a dangerous place without his parents knowing—but above all, she was deeply relieved. She simply couldn’t bear not holding this adventurous little wolf right this moment.

But in the next instant, Chloe froze, feeling as though stones were pelting her heart.

The baby wolf, seeing Chloe approach, let out a rough, frightened breath and took one step, then another, backward—as if she were some terrifying monster.

A hollow laugh nearly escaped Chloe. Kai didn’t recognize his own mother. At least it wasn’t worse—he instinctively knew the tiger before him was a stronger predator and was trying to flee in fear.

She could understand it; after all, he’d never seen his mother in tiger form before… Yet it still stung. Dejected, Chloe looked toward Hughgray with a silent plea: “What should we do now?” But he was staring at Kai with eyes even more vacant than hers—even his tail drooped limply downward.

Why is he acting like this? Ah… surely not…

Hughgray must have truly believed Kai would become a tiger beastkin. Seeing him now as a wolf must have shocked him deeply.

Chloe suddenly wanted to bite Hughgray hard. How could he wear such a despondent expression while looking at such a precious baby wolf? Seeing his utterly dazed face, she decided there was nothing she could rely on from Kai’s father in this situation.

‘What do I do…’

In truth, her dilemma didn’t last long. If she’d been human, she could’ve simply explained everything with words. But now she was a tiger, and Kai was a wolf. When in animal form, they had to communicate the way animals did.

After a brief moment of thought, she made an instinctive decision and leaped swiftly toward Kai.
