Chloe’s mind was swirling with countless unanswered questions.

It was a chaos similar to the one she had felt that day when the Duke had taken her frozen hand—the last time he’d eaten outdoors. Back then, her hand had felt as if it were on fire; today, her whole body felt frozen solid.

Yet the very Duke who had thrown her into such confusion had already brushed past her and was heading toward the bathroom.

Chloe hurried after him, her soul having spiraled out of her brain entirely, leaving her body as numb and cold as a block of ice.

Hesitation.

Just as the Duke opened the bathroom door and stepped inside, he abruptly halted and turned back toward her—nearly causing her to bump her head against his back. Chloe quickly stepped back a pace and looked up at him.

“…?”

Her eyes brimmed with the unspoken question of why he wasn’t entering the bathroom.

“Why are you following me in?”

“Huh?”

“Do you intend to assist me with my bath?”

“Uh…? Then I don’t need to assist you?”
