This lounge had originally been created by knocking down the wall between two large rooms to form a single space.

Clearly, the couple must have come here for a secret tryst, so he planned to slip quietly out through the opposite door while they were distracted.

Sure enough, the man and woman entered the room and, even before the door had fully closed, began pressing their bodies together in a disheveled manner. Carson thought it incredibly fortunate that he had chosen to extinguish all the lights in the room beforehand.

Moist, squelching sounds followed, and the two figures collapsed onto the sofa, their bodies entwined.

But then, as if suddenly noticing something, both froze simultaneously.

“Someone must have been here.”

The man spoke upon seeing the wine glass Carson had left on the table, but the woman, as if telling him not to worry, began kissing him again.

“Just a moment.”

Yet, uneasy about something, he pulled away from her and sat on the sofa, glancing warily around. In response, the woman climbed onto his lap.

“It’s fine. Don’t stop.”

“But… why have you drunk so much?”

The man spoke with careful deference, suggesting he held a lower status than the woman. She, breathing heavily, snapped sharply at him.

“You’re ruining my mood. Just stop talking and focus. Do you really have the presence of mind for that right now?”

Despite her urging, the man couldn’t concentrate and kept turning his head restlessly. The moment he fully turned his head to the left, Carson recognized who he was.

He was the very same guard who, just moments ago, had passionately confessed his longing for Ines in the courtyard. Yet now, the person in his arms was not the object of that yearning.
