“Then I’ll go chop wood with you from now on. I’ll at least carry an axe—maybe then I’ll get some muscle on my arms. I want arms like that too.”

Axel frowned, imagining his own arms attached to Jade’s torso.

“You’ll definitely end up chopping your own feet, not the wood. No. Just carry a water bucket and haul it.”

“That’s not enough!”

“Then just fill it with more water. Your bucket is always more than half empty anyway.”

“There’s a reason you don’t understand intimidating builds like mine. What do you know!”

They kept bickering nonstop. The rich, hearty stew needed constant stirring to prevent burning at the bottom, but they were so busy chattering they didn’t even notice the effort.

Before they knew it, their shoulders were nearly touching. Of course, the height difference was so great they’d never actually meet, yet they could clearly feel each other’s warmth radiating close by.

Compared to the first day, they were practically embracing—though neither noticed anything odd about it. Probably because closeness had seeped into their relationship so slowly, like meat fat gradually infusing into vegetables.

Thus, after simmering for hours, the lavish stew turned out astonishingly delicious.

Even after finishing the meal, Axel didn’t seem inclined to go hunting today. After all, with wind like this, no animal would dare venture outside.

So right after washing up from their long, drawn-out meal, Jade was dragged outside.

“You’ve got quite the packed schedule.”

At Jade’s mutter, Axel gave a soft chuckle and opened a small door.

It was a space she’d never entered—not even known existed.
