Even if Your Regret Holds Me Back (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 37
“I keep feeling like you’re preparing to say goodbye on your own, so let me be clear: I have absolutely no intention of parting ways with you for the time being.”
“‘For the time being’—that’s exactly what I mean. I’m only talking about what comes after that. You aren’t about to take responsibility for my whole life, are you?”
Helena instantly regretted her words the moment they left her mouth. Why had she stubbornly provoked him like that? What had she hoped to hear by testing him so pointlessly?
And yet, no reply came at all.
“…….”
Ian stared at Helena as if caught off guard, saying nothing. Helena desperately wanted to read something—anything—from his furrowed expression, but it wasn’t easy.
The silence, which had always felt natural between them, now grated on her nerves more than ever.
For some reason, her chest stung faintly, as though pricked by an insect.
Helena swung her sword, as if cutting away that unpleasant sensation, shaking off the dirt clinging to its tip. The blade was so smooth that even the slightest motion dislodged clumps of earth.
Just then, a staff member from the exchange station conveniently interrupted, arriving with a fresh horse. Thanks to this timely intrusion, the awkward tension she’d hoped to escape was completely severed.
After the employee left, Helena handed her sword to Ian, deliberately changing the subject.
“It’s quite an exceptional blade.”
Ian wordlessly took the sword and sheathed it at his waist. Grabbing the horse’s reins, he noted both Helena’s discerning eye in recognizing the weapon and her earlier behavior.
“Have you ever trained in swordsmanship?”
Helena’s shoulders, which had tensed slightly at the return of the previous topic, relaxed. He seemed willing to let it go—for now. Even if it was just pretense, she was grateful for his consideration.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
