Even if Your Regret Holds Me Back (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 146
The next morning, the main gate of the count’s mansion was bustling with people departing. Carriages from each house drove off down the driveway, their masters aboard, the rhythmic clatter of hooves echoing as they left.
Ian was at the secluded rear garden—the quietest spot on the estate at this hour. It was where he had agreed to meet Helena on the night of the ball.
Since there was still time before their appointment, Ian silently listened to Dion’s report. After tethering the horse he had led over, Dion concisely summarized the contact he had with Heidi that morning.
“The first guerrilla engagement concluded completely three days ago, clashing near the border with the Kingdom of Valenta without major incident. Casualty figures should be tallied by now, but given that Lady Heidi referred to it only as a minor skirmish and slept straight through for two days…”
“I know. She’s my sister, after all—even if she sulks every day.”
Ian’s expression grew complex, a mix of pride and faint guilt. Noticing this, Dion quickly added that, fortunately, aside from fatigue due to excessive use of magic, she had suffered no serious injuries, brushing aside Ian’s concerns.
Yet Ian couldn’t easily hide his worry and instead rubbed his chin.
“So this is where it truly begins. Belje must have already figured out where I am.”
Knowing exactly where Ian’s concern lay, Dion unusually maintained a serious demeanor as he spoke.
“We’ve been receiving signals continuously from Partren. Even if Eden cast strong barriers, traces of dense magical energy would still remain. If Belzebuth reads him, I can’t guarantee your residence will stay safe much longer.”
That was precisely the situation Ian had wanted to avoid at all costs. Folding his arms, he fell into brief contemplation.
As he paced wordlessly back and forth in place, Dion suddenly perked up his ears, sensing footsteps beyond his own. Lifting his head, he saw Helena approaching, glancing around warily.
With a glance, Ian dismissed Dion and stepped toward Helena.
“I heard there was some commotion at the hall yesterday. I’m sorry I couldn’t be by your side.”
It was a brilliantly natural feign of innocence. “Why don’t you just scrape off the monster’s flesh stuck to your shoe sole before saying that?” Dion gaped, his jaw dropping in disbelief.

My Step-brother Is Obsessed With Me (Female-dominant)
A gentle female protagonist vs pitiful in the early stage, and a sick male protagonist in the later stage
Cheng Songer transmigrated into the body of a vicious cannon fodder female supporting character with the same name as her in a female-dominant novel.
In the original story, the cannon fodder female supporting character was inhumane, committing domestic violence, gambling excessively, being lustful, and even wanting to sell her stepbrother to a brothel for money.
As luck would have it, she just happened to transmigrate at this time.
Seeing Cheng Qingzhi biting his lip, enduring the tears in his eyes, looking pitiful, her heart softened.
She stuffed the money back into the Madam’s hand and reached out to him.
“Brother, come home with me.”

For Helena, those were some of the most beautiful moments.
An elephant! What is this analogy! At least a monster is a better analogy.
Helena saw our anger at Natasha, waiting for Natasha to be completely destroyed.
