Zaika looked at me with eyes full of bewilderment.

I swallowed my tears along with my snot.

It’s my fault.

But I just can’t bear to see our poor Zaika suffer like this.

You must feel as if the world is crumbling around you—didn’t you say your heart was torn to shreds and it was hard even to breathe? With that delicate frame of yours—hey! Why hold back your tears? What good does holding them in do? If you’re sad, just cry!

I dabbed away her snot for her instead.

Zaika followed my hand with a dazed gaze for a moment, then resumed speaking.

“And honestly, I really don’t know anymore. On one hand, I think Ojar couldn’t possibly have deceived me—there must have been some reason—but then again, I can’t be sure of anything. Was the Ojar I knew truly his real self? Were all the emotions he showed me genuine?”

Her distress pained me deeply.

Ojar’s love had been real. Just as Zaika had been his salvation and everything to him, so too had he been to her.

“Is there any truth to be found in the time we spent together?”

Tears welled up once more.

“Hic.”

I wiped away the tears streaming down my face with a handkerchief.

“Honestly, why have you been crying since earlier? It’s me who wants to cry!”
