Idrish ordered that the antidote be distributed to the patients as soon as it arrived. Though the railway was blocked and difficulties were expected, many lives hung in the balance, so they had to hurry. Still, if they merely drank the antidote, most of those bedridden would likely recover.

Instead, the distribution came with the condition that recipients not spread rumors of having taken the antidote and fully recovered. It was to keep Servian off guard.

If their surprise attacks had continued until now, it was our turn.

Next was Aguila.

Idrish had been busy the entire time, frantically assessing the military strength of each territory and counting available weapons. It was a task that allowed no delay, yet permitted no mistakes.

Idrish’s eyes grew increasingly sharp. Except when meeting my gaze, his brow remained furrowed constantly.

He must be exhausted.

But I hadn’t been idle all this while either. I had my own duties.

“The survey of Central’s southwest district is complete.”

“Good work.”

A soldier placed a thick stack of papers, densely covered in hurried handwriting, before me. I picked it up and began marking each detail onto the Central map I’d been holding onto.

In the middle of the square, we set up a makeshift table and a temporary tent—for patient surveys.

Unfortunately, the amount of antidote was insufficient. Thus, we had to distribute it wisely.

“How much additional antidote will arrive by tomorrow?”

“By tomorrow, enough for at least one hundred and forty people will arrive.”
