I felt uneasy for no good reason.

Was it really necessary to hurt a child this much? Perhaps the pet shop put him up for adoption like this precisely because, although still quite young, he was old enough to be adopted?

Just then, as if having overheard Sir Joseph’s words, a clerk hurried out. According to Sir Joseph, Jeomsami was a puppy just over two months old.

“He is young, certainly, but he eats well and is a strong, healthy pup. There would be no issue adopting him now. Besides, many people prefer them at exactly two months—they’re at their tiniest and cutest then.”

Having never raised an animal before, I nodded at the clerk’s words.

‘If what he says is true and there’s no health concern, maybe it’s fine to take him home?’

Convinced, I turned to Celsion to suggest adopting Jeomsami.

“No.”

To my surprise, though his eyes shimmered as if on the verge of tears, Celsion calmly set Jeomsami down.

“He’s still too young—it would make him sad to part from his mother now. Like Sir Joseph said, once he’s grown a bit more… that’s when we should bring him home.”

Jeomsami, who had been barking loudly in Celsion’s arms, was placed on the floor, bewildered.

But soon he scurried off on his tiny legs toward the corner where his mother was.

“I thought that one was really cute….”

Euphemia also looked at Jeomsami wistfully, yet Celsion’s decision seemed firmly made.

“That’s right, Mother! There were fish over there too!”
