Ever since the curse was lifted, my legs had always felt light—but now they dragged like lead. Hayden, who had come to fetch Lu, took one look at her condition and without a word instantly teleported them both to the imperial palace via magic, then handed her straight over to the maids.

Slumping into the bathtub filled with hot water, sleep crept over her. Even the hands that had been firmly massaging her burning soles soon lost their strength and went limp.

“Time to get up now.”

The maid attending her bath had already begun helping her rise.

The moment Lu stepped out of the tub—having dozed off briefly—gentle hands lightly patted her face and dried the moisture from her body. Before she knew it, her hair was completely dry and she was fully dressed.

“Shall we go?”

“Oh… oh… I’ve never had this happen before.”

She’d never been so thoroughly cared for by maids before—but when she came to her senses, she was already changed into comfortable clothes. The head maid smiled warmly.

“You must have been very tired today. Come, let’s go eat.”
