Lu shrugged her shoulders.

“Well, maybe he’s just naturally polite and sociable.”

“That could be.”

Hayden nodded, still wearing his picture-perfect smile.

“You seem to like kind and outgoing people. I’ll keep that in mind.”

“Everyone likes people like that, Your Majesty.”

“That’s true.”

What is this? Did he call me just to tease me? He really is unpredictable—summoning me at random times, suddenly appearing out of nowhere, and even dragging me around as he pleases, all while smiling sweetly.

“Why did you call for me, Your Majesty? Do you have something for me to do? You must be busy today.”

As if he didn’t know why. Hayden had seen everything from afar—exactly how many wolves stood behind Nirva’s ambassador, Felix Kaika.

Most of them were clumsy fools who pushed their way in under the pretense of knowing Felix Kaika, casually slipping in with, “How do you do, Lord Kaika? And who might this lovely young lady be?”

Then there were the next batch of foolish men who pretended not to care, stole quick glances, sneered at those idiots, and then approached her in what they thought was a refined—but terribly clichéd—manner.
