“This isn’t me helping you, My Lady.”

Hayden drew a clear line.

“It’s true I interfered.”

Lu calmly spoke as she blocked an incoming attack with her sword. Her arm and hand, still under the curse, tingled unbearably.

“I apologize, then. Did I get in your way?”

As if. Lu had even declared she’d use Hayden if needed—but now she had no time left to reply.

Pushed back repeatedly by the guards’ attacks, she ended up right before the limp corpse of a guard Hayden had thrown aside. Behind it stood a shattered glass display case, broken by the impact of the body.

Another sword strike came flying. With a loud clang, Lu’s sword flew from her hand. She didn’t miss the mixture of contempt and glee in the attacking guard’s eyes.

She saw it all—the certainty that “the Imperial Knights’ wench” was nothing special, and the cruel satisfaction of defeating such a famous woman. Gritting her teeth, she hastily grabbed a heavy ceremonial scepter from inside the display case to block the next strike. She absolutely refused to lose to that kind of gaze.

Boom!

‘Huh?’

A scepter that vibrated so heavily after blocking a sword? Moreover, the impact sent the guards who’d swung their blades flying backward.

Unharmed, Lu briefly glanced at the scepter in her hand, then struck the guards with its end—laden with heavy gems—in a precise, efficient blow aimed straight at their vitals.

With loud thuds, two guards collapsed, and the rest, panicked, began casting spells. Some even targeted Hayden.

“Who are you!”
