“Brrr, it’s cold.”

The moment I stepped outside the building, a biting wind blew fiercely. I hunched my shoulders and shivered uncontrollably.

Though Lumel had mentioned that the temperature-regulating magic extended as far as the corridor, he’d also warned it would still feel colder than indoors—so I’d even borrowed Lumel’s fur cloak before coming out. Yet apparently, this wasn’t enough to ward off the chill.

‘I should’ve worn at least one more layer!’

I’ve always been particularly sensitive to the cold. Guess I overestimated myself.

But if I went back to the infirmary now just to put on more clothes, I doubted I’d ever find the courage to step back out into this freezing air again.

Alright. Since I’m already out here, I’ll walk for at least thirty minutes before heading back in. I adjusted the trailing edge of my dragging cloak and strode forward briskly.

Just as Lumel had said, the corridor behind Kronen Palace was perfect for a light stroll.

There wasn’t an ornate garden, but instead, the view of snow-covered fir trees stretching out before me was wonderfully picturesque.

I kept my eyes fixed on the swaying firs as I walked steadily along. I’d never seen such tall fir trees standing so densely packed together.

So absorbed was I in the firs that I didn’t notice there were others in the corridor until I’d gotten quite close to them.

‘Who are they?’

I stopped in place and observed two figures standing still about thirty paces away.

Both wore neat black dresses with aprons, each holding a long broom, a mop, and a wooden bucket.

Were they maids coming to clean?

‘They’re dressed so lightly. I guess locals don’t find this cold particularly harsh.’

It reminded me of a friend from Cheorwon who used to boast that Seoul’s winter chill was nothing compared to his hometown.

Anyway, it was fascinating, and since I’d encountered people, I should greet them—and if possible, strike up a conversation!

Eagerly, I started walking toward them, but suddenly realized their gazes had been fixed steadily on one spot the whole time.

My eyes naturally followed theirs—and then I saw it.

A small white puppy, anxiously scanning its surroundings.

‘!’

It was a fluffy white pup, resembling a Samoyed. Slightly smaller than a 20kg sack of rice, and judging by its build, it hadn’t yet reached full adulthood—probably still in its adolescent stage.

Right now, the puppy was clearly overwhelmed with anxiety, vigilantly watching every direction.

Its hunched posture, slight trembling, darting eyes, and nervous licking of its nose confirmed it beyond doubt.

What’s going on? Where did this little one come from?

‘And… so are those two frozen in place because they’re scared of the puppy?’

Having grasped the situation roughly, I calmly approached the two women.

The puppy was aware of them but showed no particular interest—so I figured I’d help them slip away while it was distracted.

But at that moment, the two women—who’d been twitching nervously—suddenly shifted into a stance as if ready to bolt away immediately.

‘No!’

If they turned and ran, the puppy would surely chase after them!

Fortunately, I was now only five steps away. I quickly moved to stand between them and the puppy.

I could feel the two women behind me freeze in confusion—but I couldn’t turn to check on them.

Because right now—our eyes,

had met.

Was it my imagination? For just an instant, the puppy’s eyes flashed red.

A chill ran down my spine.

“…….”

From the moment our eyes locked, I held perfectly still, staring intently at the puppy. It, too, refused to look away.

Thankfully, I sensed no hostility or aggression in its gaze—but I couldn’t predict how it might react next.

For a while, the puppy and I silently locked eyes in a tense standoff.

Finally, the puppy broke eye contact first and backed away.

Still, I remained on high alert. Keeping my gaze fixed on the puppy, I whispered softly to the two women behind me.

“This might seem sudden, but will you please listen to me?”

“Y-yes? Yes, yes.”

Their trembling reply sounded young. From afar, I’d assumed they were around my age, but they might actually be younger.

Realizing they were probably younger than me made their frightened breathing sound even more pitiful. I spoke as gently as possible.

“I saw from a distance that you seemed troubled by the puppy, so I came to help.”

“Huh? B-but… are you really okay… dealing with that thing…?”

Okay? What did that mean—had I ever handled an agitated dog before?

If that was the question, I could nod without hesitation. In my past life, I’d owned a large dog and even worked part-time for a long time at my uncle’s dog training center.

To reassure them, I answered in a bright, confident tone.

“I’m fine. I’ve done this many times before. Don’t worry.”

“Many… times? Really?”

“Absolutely! Now, please don’t worry and just listen carefully. The puppy is aware of me, but it’s no longer paying attention to you two.”

“Yes.”

“So slowly step back now—but don’t startle it. Oh, wait—won’t that take you out of the corridor? It’s even colder outside, you know.”

“It’s fine. It’s not that cold today…”

Not that cold? I feel like I’m freezing to death! Locals are incredible!

“That’s a relief. Then please back away slowly and head indoors. Until you’ve secured a safe distance, absolutely do not turn your backs or run—it might excite the puppy and make it charge.”

“Yes. We won’t.”

“Good. Go ahead now.”

Instead of immediately stepping back, the two hesitated briefly—then whispered into my ear.

“We’ll… go get the knights right away…!”

“?”

Why did they sound so grim? And why call the knights?

I was puzzled for a moment, but quickly brushed it off—I thought I understood why they’d said that.

‘This puppy must belong to some knightly order.’

While I was silently piecing it together, the presence behind me gradually faded away. Thankfully, the puppy paid them no mind.

Instead, it paced restlessly through the snow, glancing repeatedly in my direction. I, too, kept my eyes on the puppy.

By the time the corridor was completely empty except for the puppy and me, it began approaching me hesitantly.

Its fluffy tail wagged gently. Its cautious steps and gentle eyes showed no trace of hostility toward me. I relaxed just a little.

Seeing that, the puppy quickened its pace, trotting over to my feet and sniffing curiously.

I stayed perfectly still so as not to alarm it. The puppy circled me, diligently sniffing all around.

After a short while, seemingly satisfied with its inspection, it sat down in front of me and wagged its tail vigorously.

Then it flopped onto its back, exposing its belly.

“!”

A strange dog just rolled over and showed me its belly!

After blinking in surprise, I slowly crouched down. In its eyes, I saw curiosity and affection.

Unbelievable. Just moments ago, it had been so anxious—could it have been searching for someone to help? Someone to rely on? My heart ached a little.

“Hello?”

I greeted it cheerfully so it wouldn’t grow anxious again, then carefully reached out to stroke under its chin.

The puppy didn’t resist. So I used both hands to scratch behind its ears and gently brush its chest fur.

Before long, the puppy and I had become fast friends, rolling together playfully on the ground.

“Aww, you’re so cute! Such a pretty little fluffball~!”

“Woof!”

The puppy enthusiastically licked my face. I hugged it close, scratching it all over while carefully observing its condition.

No visible injuries. Its health didn’t seem seriously compromised—though it was noticeably thin and quite dirty.

Considering its behavior, eyes, and other signs, it was clear this pup had been neglected, receiving no proper care from its owner.

Watching it burrow affectionately into my chest reminded me suddenly of Bingsoo, my beloved youngest pet back home.

Bingsoo had always believed everyone in the world naturally adored him.

Comparing the two dogs in my mind made my heart ache even more.

“All puppies deserve abundant love and happiness… Where did you come from? Whoever your owner is, if I ever meet them…”

I’ll strip them naked, bury them in snow, and starve them for three days straight.

Firmly resolved, I hugged the puppy tightly—when suddenly, a heavy crunching sound echoed from the side.

‘Did those girls send someone already?’

I turned toward the noise.

There stood—

“…….”

Jet-black hair fluttering in the cold wind. Azure eyes that seemed to survey all creation.

Against the backdrop of the fir forest, on the pristine white snow, stood my beloved favorite—Asperan Loakin—like a figure from a painting.

‘But…’

Why is he here?!

I was happy to see him, yet utterly flustered. My back felt slightly damp. Hesitantly, I called out to him.

“M-my lord?”

“…….”

Asperan wore a strange expression.

His furrowed brows, wide eyes, and slightly parted lips made him look both startled and exasperated.

Was he shocked to find the person he’d personally tucked into the infirmary rolling around out here so randomly?

He already had an intimidating look, and now, standing there silently without a word, he was starting to scare me a little.

But in that brief moment of distraction, the puppy—previously nestled calmly in my arms—slipped out.

“Oh no!”

I reached out quickly to grab it again, but the puppy darted away too fast, turning its back to me—and then—

“Grrrr—”

It lowered its body slightly and began growling toward Asperan, as if trying to protect me.

‘…Good heavens!’

Is it trying to protect me? Because it thinks I’m scared? How admirable! But what if something terrible happens because of this!

I hurried to calm the puppy down—when suddenly, a thunderous rumbling sound, like the earth collapsing, erupted from the other side.

Startled, I whipped my head around. What came into view was nothing less than a group of armed knights.

I froze mid-reach, mouth agape. Who were these knights? Why were they armed as if coming to arrest someone?

‘This is insane!’

The knights rushed forward but halted in perfect unison upon spotting Asperan. The one at the front stepped forward to speak on their behalf.

“We greet you, my lord!”

Asperan gave a slight nod, his gaze still fixed firmly on me.

“Yes.”

“We heard a report from the maids and came rushing out… Huh?!”

The knight, who’d been smoothly explaining their reason for coming, suddenly caught sight of me, let out a yelp, and tumbled backward.

But it wasn’t just him—the other knights behind also began murmuring, glancing back and forth between me and the puppy.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
