Didn't Plan to Become a Companion (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 137
Once I actually stepped inside, any thought of not getting lost flew far out of my mind. The books, bearing intriguing titles so fascinating that I wouldn’t have cared even if rumors spread about the queen being directionally challenged and suffering embarrassment, instantly captivated me.
‘The Illustrious Son of Eulus Who Ascended to the Sky’
‘Ekis and Narkits’
‘The Strait of Herephthos That Devoured Leandro’
Judging by their titles, most seemed to be collections of myths related to the Empire and Resotia.
As I hesitated over which to read first, repeatedly pulling out books and skimming through them, my eyes were suddenly drawn to an exceedingly unusual book visible through a gap in the empty shelves.
‘What’s this?’
It was a thick volume bound in pitch-black velvet, yet strangely enough, it bore no title at all.
Hypnotized, I approached it. But upon closer inspection, aside from lacking a title, it held no other remarkable features.
Yet, for some inexplicable reason, I couldn’t bring myself to pull it out right away.
An inexplicable sense of unease washed over me, causing me to hesitate briefly—but as always, I refused to back down.
Planting my feet firmly on the floor, I grasped the book and, with great effort, managed to pull it out. Its weight, far heavier than expected, elicited an involuntary groan from me.
Too heavy to read standing, I sank down right there and settled into the most comfortable position for reading.
After carefully turning a few pages, I noticed handwriting along the edge of a page—someone’s inscription. The letters had faded so badly I couldn’t make them out and tilted my head this way and that, trying to decipher them.
‘This is ancient script!’

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
