As always, the neat handwriting was steeped in Ricardo’s distinctive scent. I briefly pressed my lips to the paper before slowly reading his words.

After stating that his duties in the Dermayer Empire were far greater than anticipated, making frequent visits to Resotia impossible—a situation he described as utterly desperate—he went on to declare his solution: he had decided to become the king of the Resotia Duchy himself.

Even through the writing, it was clear Ricardo was thoroughly irritated.
