David's Husband (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 2
Mom? A test to become a mom?
Ha Yeon doubted her own ears as she hurriedly wiped away the leftover yogurt splatter.
“You… don’t have a mom?”
She asked cautiously, afraid the child might be hurt.
“Ji Hoo doesn’t have a mom. So can Unnie be my mom instead?”
Ha Yeon forced her momentarily blank mind to work. So that was why the child kept coming to buy cola—there was simply no one around to guide his daily habits…
Now that everything made sense, she felt unbearably sorry for him. But even so—how on earth could she possibly become his mom?!
With a pained expression, Ha Yeon agonized over how to explain this in a way he’d understand.
“Um, Ji Hoo. Being a mom isn’t something Unnie can just decide to do on a whim.”
“You don’t dislike the idea, do you?”
Huh? Why on earth would he ask that? That’s not the point I was making at all.
“Well… it’s not that I dislike it. It’s that I *can’t*. To become a mom, I’d have to marry your dad—and he’d also need to like me.”
Is… is this really the right way to explain it? Ha Yeon broke into a cold sweat and gave an awkward smile.
“If you don’t dislike it, then that’s fine.”
Fine? He just accepted it—just like that? Ha Yeon gaped, momentarily stunned. She’d worried he might burst into tears and throw a tantrum, but instead he was far more mature than expected—and that only made her heart ache even more.
“Then instead, come play at my house.”
She couldn’t bring herself to say no as she met the child’s clear, earnest eyes.
“Ah—uh—okay.”
She nodded hesitantly, stammering her agreement—and only then did he finally smile softly.
“So, you’ll definitely come visit my house this weekend, right?”
Ha Yeon stared blankly at the child’s outstretched pinky finger, sensing things were veering off course—but also realizing it was already too late to turn back.
“Y-yeah. It’s a promise.”
In the end, she hooked pinkies with him—though she knew full well that, for children, a pinky promise was the most sacred vow of all.
[This is the timeline separator]The weekend she’d promised Ji Hoo had finally arrived.
Glancing at the clock, Ha Yeon sighed deeply for no clear reason. Perhaps it was because she’d grown quite attached to the child. Ever since hearing he had no mother, she’d felt as if a heavy stone had settled permanently in her chest.
‘There’s really nothing I can do to help him anyway.’
Yet every time she thought of him, a sigh slipped out unbidden.
Perhaps she even saw her own solitary existence reflected in the child—utterly alone in this world.
‘Will he really come?’
Wondering whether Ji Hoo might have even remembered their promise, Ha Yeon finished up her shift at the convenience store.
Since her weekend shift ended in the morning, she’d told him the time beforehand—but whether he’d actually remembered remained uncertain.
‘If he does come to pick me up…’
She’d have to go. Reaching that conclusion, she stepped out of the convenience store.
Her father had always emphasized one thing: never make a promise you can’t keep—and once you’ve made a promise, no matter the reason, you must take full responsibility for your words.
If the child remembered the time and came to wait for her, it meant he’d truly been anticipating this moment—and she didn’t want to disappoint him.
*Ding-dong.* As she pushed open the store door and stepped outside, someone cheerfully called out to her.
“Unnie!”
Seeing the boy—his smile as bright as the sunny weather—Ha Yeon waved back.
“Ji Hoo, you came?”
Realizing how much he must have looked forward to their promise, her lips naturally curved into a smile.
“I kept counting on my fingers—one night, two nights—waiting until today.”
How could a child possibly say something so sweet? Ha Yeon gently patted Ji Hoo’s head once.
“Alright then, let’s go.”
Ji Hoo grabbed her hand and pulled her toward a sleek black sedan gleaming in the sunlight.
Huh? We’re taking *that*? Oblivious to her wide, trembling eyes—like she’d just experienced an earthquake—Ji Hoo opened the door and said,
“We have to take this to get to my house.”
“O-okay, got it.”
Still dazed, she allowed herself to be led into the car—completely unaware of what would happen next, or who she was about to meet.
“This is my house.”

After stepping out of the car and passing through the gate, Ha Yeon’s mouth fell wide open.
“Th-this is *really* your house?”
She’d had her suspicions the moment she’d gotten into the chauffeur-driven sedan—but she hadn’t expected anything *this* grand.
The vast, grassy yard was dotted with eye-catching, unusual sculptures—so artfully arranged it could pass for a small museum. Ha Yeon gaped stupidly before snapping back to her senses and quickly composing her expression.
“There’s even more inside—wanna take a look?”
Noticing her interest in art, Ji Hoo perked up excitedly.
“A-ah, yeah, sure.”
As she nodded, his tiny hand eagerly seized hers.
*Click.* As the front door closed behind them, Ha Yeon gasped—and covered her mouth with both hands. Sunlight poured through the high-ceilinged living room windows, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene.
The exposed concrete walls, stylishly finished in gray, paired with deep brown bookshelves and a sofa, evoked the cozy ambiance of a chic café.
Wow, living in a house like this, I’d never want to leave for the rest of my life. Ha Yeon thought this as she slowly scanned the interior.
“Is… no one else home?”
She asked tentatively—only for Ji Hoo, sounding surprisingly adult-like, to sigh and reply,
“Dad was supposed to come… but let’s just have fun by ourselves for now.”
She caught a fleeting glimpse of his fading hope—so Ha Yeon deliberately chimed in with exaggerated enthusiasm.
“R-right! Let’s just have fun.”
Following Ji Hoo’s lead, she browsed the framed artwork and ceramics displayed on the first floor. Even to her untrained eye, these pieces clearly looked incredibly valuable.
‘Just what kind of family is this…?’
Unable to outright interrogate the child, she merely darted her eyes around furtively.
“There are even cooler things upstairs.”
Ji Hoo headed up the stairs, and Ha Yeon followed. Sunlight streamed through the massive floor-to-ceiling glass window connecting the first and second floors, glittering ever more brightly as they ascended.
“My room’s on the second floor—wanna see it too?”
At the boy’s excitedly raised voice, Ha Yeon cautiously asked,
“You sleep with your dad on the second floor?”
“No, Dad’s room is on the first floor. My aunt, who used to take care of me, stayed in the room next to mine—but she quit, so now she’s gone. Still, Ji Hoo’s fine. I’m all grown up, you know.”
He tried hard to sound tough—but how could he possibly be *fine*? What good was living in such wealth if the child was left so utterly neglected?!
Ha Yeon’s temper flared pointlessly, and she took a sharp breath. At just six years old, he still desperately needed parental care—yet he handled everything on his own, like a miniature adult.
“This way leads to my room.”
They turned the corner where the stairs met the hallway—
“Huh?”
Ha Yeon abruptly halted. A massive portrait of a man dominated an entire wall.
The black-and-white drawing was so exquisitely rendered—almost photorealistic—that the man’s presence alone was overwhelming.
Thick eyebrows, a sharply defined nose, sensual lips, and above all, piercing eyes that seemed to cut straight through one’s soul…
And the muscles clearly visible between the buttons of his undone shirt looked so vivid and lifelike—like Michelangelo’s *David* statue sprung to life—that her gaze was instantly seized.
But Ha Yeon’s shock wasn’t just due to the man’s striking looks—it was a strange, wordless premonition that shook her entire body.
‘No way—I never imagined I’d see *him* here.’
Baffled by this bizarre coincidence, she tilted her head in confusion.
“My dad’s pretty cool, right?”
Ji Hoo spoke, noticing how fixated she was on the portrait.
“Hm? Your… dad?”
She should’ve stopped right there—should’ve kept it secret that he was her absolute favorite.
“Ah! Eeek! D-D-Director Kang Min Jae is your—your *dad*?!”
“Huh? You know my dad?”
Of course she did—her room had several scrapbooks entirely dedicated to him.
Kang Min Jae, director of the Liam Art Museum and owner of multiple galleries, was a major figure in Korea’s art world. He was famously known for discovering unknown rookie artists and inviting them to art fairs—many of whom later rose to prominence, even being selected for the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art’s prestigious “Artist of the Year” exhibition.
“The Midas touch of the art world,” “a millionaire who paints,” “a walking *David* statue”… the list of epithets describing him was endless. He was, without question, one of the most prominent figures in the industry.
“H-how in the world did this… happen…?”
As Ha Yeon trembled, pointing at the portrait with a stiff finger—
“Lower your finger. Pointing at someone’s face is rude.”
A deep, resonant male voice startled her into a sharp inhale.

“Dad!”
Ji Hoo confirmed the speaker’s identity with an excited greeting.
“Where’s the ajumma? Are you just wandering around alone?”
“The ajumma’s busy preparing lunch. And I’m not alone—I’m with the unnie I told you about.”
Damn it—Ha Yeon silently cursed. The word *unnie* slipping from Ji Hoo’s lips made her cheeks flush hot with embarrassment.
Min Je, watching Ha Yeon silently fumble with her lips, gave a small smirk and extended his hand for a handshake.
“Well then, Miss Unnie—pleased to meet you.”
He was clearly teasing her. Goddamn it—but he was still so ridiculously handsome!
Biting her lip, Ha Yeon stole a glance at the hand he offered. *This is just a handshake—a greeting.* She repeated the mantra to herself several times before finally lightly grasping his fingertips in greeting.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Jang Ha Yeon.”
She deliberately stressed her name—and saw the faintest upward quirk of his lips in response.
She’d never dreamed she’d meet in person the man whose magazine interview had made her fall head over heels. She’d meticulously clipped and collected every article he appeared in—and attended nearly every exhibition he curated.
Her heart raced, yet her mind ran cold. *He’s Ji Hoo’s father…*
“Our Ji Hoo has been bragging about you quite a bit.”
His expression unreadable, he alternated glances between Ji Hoo and her.
“R-really? I’m glad there was something worth bragging about.”
Part of her wanted to slap her own chattering mouth a few times—but instead, Ha Yeon simply smiled brightly, masking her inner turmoil.
Her forced smile made her cheeks tremble—but in this situation, smiling was the only thing she *could* do.
“In any case, it’s lunchtime—let’s eat first.”
“Huh? L-lunch?”
At her current state of panic, sitting across from him for a meal would surely make her choke.
“I’m fine—I had a late breakfast.”
As she waved her hands dismissively, Ji Hoo peered up at her and said flatly,
“Unnie, your stomach’s growling.”
“R-really?”
Damn it—why did that cursed internal clock have to be so damn accurate…?
“We’ve never let a guest leave our house hungry.”
With a slight nod, he turned and walked downstairs first.
Watching his retreating back, Ha Yeon wanted to pinch her own cheeks. Ugh—this was *real*?!
“If you need anything, please let me know.”
A kind-faced housekeeper greeted them and guided them to their seats.
Wow—what *is* all this? Ha Yeon’s eyes widened at the lavish spread laid out on the dining table.
It looked like a full-blown feast—so abundant it couldn’t be taken in at a single glance.
“Ji Hoo specially requested this meal.”
Noticing her stunned expression, Min Je explained.
So I mean *this* much to you? Ha Yeon nearly teared up and impulsively wanted to hug Ji Hoo—but then suddenly froze, hyper-aware of Min Je’s gaze.
“Thank you, Ji Hoo. I’ll enjoy it.”
She deliberately softened her tone—and Ji Hoo’s expression abruptly shifted, just for a moment.
She should’ve used this tone from the start. A brief pang of regret flitted through her—but Ha Yeon quickly refocused: since things had already escalated this far, her new goal was simply to eat her fill and leave.
‘Mm, this ajumma’s cooking is amazing.’
Every dish she tried was delicious—her eyes widened with each bite. Just as she was fully immersed in eating—
“Dad, you said it last time—you’d let me pick anything I wanted for my birthday gift.”
The boy’s expression was almost fiercely resolute—and Min Je raised one eyebrow slightly.
“I did.”
“That’s why I’m saying—I’d like Unnie to become my mom for my birthday gift.”
“!”
Ha Yeon choked, jerking her head toward Ji Hoo in shock.
‘Ji Hoo, what on earth are you *blabbering* about?!’
Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife
I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro
When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.
After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.
Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.
Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.
At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.
Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.
The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.
He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.
[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
