Couples in Love (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 8
When Green followed In Young to the parking lot, two luxury sedans were waiting for them.
In Young turned to her husband, Jin Young Cheol, and asked,
“I’m going to ride with this child. What about you? Do you want to come along?”
“I have a drinking appointment with some congressmen. They all wanted to become in-laws with me, but since things turned out this way, I guess I’ll have to treat them to drinks at least.”
“Alright. Drink moderately, and I’ll see you at home later.”
Jin Young Cheol, who had been glaring disapprovingly at Green, got into his car and left first. In Young then turned to Green and said,
“Let’s get going too.”
As she got into the car first, Green, who had been standing hesitantly, quickly walked to the opposite side, opened the door, and sat down next to In Young.
As the skillful driver steered the car onto Gangbyeonbuk-ro, Green cautiously asked,
“Where are we headed?”
“Didn’t Sunwoo tell you anything about the house?”
“No.”
In Young clicked her tongue lightly and handed Green a small bag. The bag she received felt quite heavy.
“It contains the access card and car keys to Sunwoo’s apartment. Since it’ll be empty for about two years anyway, you might as well use it.”
“What about my belongings?”
“I’ve already sent someone to your place—they’ll bring most of your things. Anything missing, we’ll just buy anew.”
“I see.”
“I’ve also put a new mobile phone inside. Please cancel your current one and start using this.”
For a moment, Green felt a chill. Even if the house and car made sense, there was only one reason they insisted she switch phones.
“Do I just need to cut contact with my father, or sever all my personal relationships?”
In Young’s lips tightened slightly—she was caught off guard because Green had bluntly pointed out the very reason she’d given her the new phone.
“Of course you can stay in touch with people who are truly essential. Your father will eventually learn your new number anyway, but it’d be best to avoid him for now.”
“Understood.”
In Young watched Green silently for a moment, then let out a small sigh.
“Sunwoo’s father is someone who can’t hide his thoughts and is overly emotional. Because of that, you’ll probably get hurt by him from time to time.”
“…I see.”
“And I’m not exactly warm or affectionate myself. It won’t be easy, but I hope you hang in there.”
“I understand you don’t approve of me. I know very well that I’m an inadequate daughter-in-law. I’ll stay as quietly and unobtrusively as possible.”
At Green’s humble words, Park In Young simply stared at her without a word.
Green met her gaze, but she couldn’t read anything from Park In Young’s eyes.
“We’re not trying to imprison you.”
“Excuse me?”
Green was genuinely startled by the word “prison”—that wasn’t how she’d interpreted their actions at all.
Park In Young moved her lips as if she wanted to say something, but quickly turned her head away and sighed instead.
“Though we held the wedding privately, it’ll inevitably get out through the press. We don’t intend to hide you either.”
“Oh… okay.”
“In the future, you’ll likely attend quite a few events related to Sunwoo’s father, and you’ll often need to show your face at gatherings connected to K1 Construction.”
In truth, when In Young had originally decided to hold Sunwoo and Green’s wedding privately, she hadn’t intended to publicly acknowledge Green as her daughter-in-law.
But seeing Han Moon Taek summoning hordes of reporters right in front of the wedding venue changed her mind.
Now that it was public knowledge that Han Moon Taek had become her and Jin Young Cheol’s in-law, she realized that both she and her daughter-in-law, Green, needed careful image management—and she’d already drawn up a plan accordingly.
Unable to grasp In Young’s true intentions, Green felt utterly defeated by the realization that, even with her husband absent from Korea, she’d have no days off as a daughter-in-law.
She fully grasped now that she was the daughter-in-law of Park In Young, Vice Chairwoman of K1 Construction, and Jin Young Cheol, a member of the National Assembly.
Just thinking about being frequently summoned to her in-laws’ events made her mouth dry instantly—but In Young continued speaking as if completely unfazed.
“I’ve put some pocket money in the bag. That same amount will be deposited into your account monthly. Consider it a dignity-maintenance allowance. Whenever there’s an event you need to attend, Deputy Manager Na Mi Ran will contact you by email or phone.”
“But Sunwoo said he’d cover my living expenses.”
“That’s separate. This is specifically for events involving me or Congressman Jin. You must always dress, style your hair, and do your makeup appropriately for the occasion—no mistakes. Understood?”
“Yes.”
In Young handed Green a small ring box.
“What’s this?”
“Your wedding ring. You don’t have to wear it daily, but you must wear it to any public event.”
Trending
“Okay.”
Green quickly opened the ring box. A brilliant diamond ring gleamed beautifully inside, but she had no time to admire it.
Once In Young saw Green slip the ring onto her finger, she nodded.
“Sunwoo seemed to have guessed your ring size roughly, but it fits well—that’s a relief. Anything else you’re curious about?”
She wondered how he’d known her finger size, but this wasn’t the time to ask. Instead, Green asked the question troubling her most.
“If I ever need to contact Sunwoo, what should I do? Can I call him directly?”
“With Sunwoo?”
In Young frowned briefly, then replied coolly.
“Just tell either me or Deputy Manager Na Mi Ran—we’ll pass it along. My secretary will be regularly updating Sunwoo on news from Korea anyway.”
“I understand. Then, could I have your number, Vice Chairwoman?”
Green hastily pulled out her new phone from the bag, powered it on, and looked at Park In Young—her gaze desperate, as if that number were the only thread connecting her to the outside world.
“010…”
Seeing Green’s expression, In Young unconsciously gave her personal number instead of her work line.
Moments later, Park In Young’s phone rang. As she reached to answer it, Green quickly said,
“That’s my number. Please save it.”
“Alright.”
“What will you save me as?”
“Han Green.”
“Won’t that seem too impersonal?”
At Green’s remark, In Young silently held out her hand.
Confused at first, Green soon understood her intention and obediently handed over her phone.
After checking how her name was saved in Green’s phone, In Young gave her a reproachful look.
“‘Vice Chairwoman of K1 Construction’?”
“Oh, it’s just… I thought you might find it unpleasant if I saved you as ‘Mother.’”
“If someone happened to see our phones by accident, they might find that strange too.”
In the end, they agreed: In Young would save Green as “Daughter-in-law,” and Green would save In Young as “Mother-in-law.” After finishing the contact entries, Green spoke cautiously.
“You mentioned earlier that someone might accidentally see our phones, right?”
“Yes.”
“Just in case, how about we add something extra?”
At Green’s suggestion, In Young frowned with displeasure—but Green’s reasoning seemed valid.
“How do you even add something like that?”
“I’ll do it for you.”
With Green’s help, both women’s contact lists now stored each other’s names prefixed with the same special symbol.
On her way back to K1 Construction headquarters after dropping Green off at Sunwoo’s apartment, In Young absentmindedly pulled out her phone—even though it hadn’t rung.
‘Daughter-in-law♡’
Among the countless contacts in her list, the only one adorned with a heart was her fake daughter-in-law, Green—an irony not lost on her.

After parting with her mother-in-law, Green went up to the apartment where Sunwoo had lived until that very morning.
When she carefully tapped the keycard, the front door slid open smoothly.
“Oh! You must be Mrs. Jin, Head Manager Jin’s wife. Welcome!”
Expecting an empty house, Green was surprised to be warmly greeted by a middle-aged woman wearing an apron.
“Who are you…?”
“Oh, I take care of this household. Call me Madam Ahn Sung. I come three times a week to clean, do laundry, and leave prepared side dishes.”
Madam Ahn Sung’s friendly demeanor put Green at ease.
“Hello, I’m Han Green.”
“Oh dear, please speak comfortably. Head Manager Jin truly found himself a lovely bride! He must’ve had such a hard time leaving for that long-term assignment with a beauty like you here.”
Green could only offer an awkward smile as Madam Ahn Sung lost herself in romantic daydreams.
“Goodness, what am I thinking! Mrs. Jin, you must be tired. I’ll leave quickly so you can rest.”
Madam Ahn Sung explained the apartment layout, boiler operation, and security screen usage to Green before hurriedly leaving.
Now alone, Green carefully surveyed the apartment. Everything felt so spacious, luxurious, and immaculate—it seemed wrong to touch anything carelessly.

Sighing, Green clutched the bag In Young had given her and walked into the master bedroom.
The large bed in the center looked as untouched as brand new.
‘They must’ve replaced the bedding.’
The master bedroom connected to a spacious walk-in closet, which in turn led to the bathroom.
Seeing Sunwoo’s clothes, ties, and personal items occupying half the closet finally made it feel real—he really had lived here until this morning.
The empty half of the closet seemed meant for her, but she couldn’t help but smile wryly at the thought of filling even a quarter of it.
‘Oh, Jenny and Hanna!’
Green suddenly remembered her friends, who must be anxiously waiting for her call.
She first phoned the hospital where her mother was admitted to give them her new number. Then, sitting comfortably on the bed, she called Hanna—Jenny was busy with a photoshoot.
“Hanna, it’s Green.”
“Oh, I got a new phone. From now on, contact me at this number.”
“Hanna, wait—calm down for a sec…”
Trying to calm the overly excited Hanna, Green waved her hand through the air—and accidentally knocked the bag In Young had given her off the edge of the bed.
As Green bent down to grab the fallen bag, its contents spilled out onto the floor.
She picked up a rather thick envelope, and as she did, its contents cascaded onto the bedroom floor. In an instant, countless portraits of Shin Saimdang smiled up at her benevolently.
“Good heavens!”
“Hanna, when do you finish work?”
“I’ll send you the address. Please come straight here as soon as you’re done—please!”
Sensing something was seriously off in Green’s voice, Hanna agreed without another word.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
