Sunwoo’s soft yet hot breath tickled the nape of Green’s neck, and in that instant, Green froze completely.

“Um, Jin Sunwoo?”

Green rolled her eyes helplessly and called Sunwoo’s name feebly, but he didn’t stir at all.

Left with no choice, she had to stay perfectly still in that position, unable to even twitch a finger.

She was worried that if Sunwoo, who had finally fallen asleep after struggling with jet lag, woke up because of her.

Green endured until her back ached and her shoulders tingled, but after more than an hour, she could no longer hold out and gently pulled her shoulder away from him.

When the shoulder he had been leaning on disappeared, Sunwoo’s body collapsed onto the bed in a C-shape. Since he still didn’t wake up, he must have been in a very deep sleep.

Stretching her body fully and loosening her stiff muscles, Green went down to the floor and firmly pulled his legs.

After exerting herself to straighten out Sunwoo’s bent body into a straight line, she finally had the leisure to look at his sleeping face properly.

Plump red lips, a high-bridged nose, sharp jawline, thick eyebrows, and lush eyelashes. Especially his eyelashes—they were as full as the false ones Green used to wear.

‘How can a guy’s eyelashes be this long?’

Out of curiosity, Green gently brushed the tips of his eyelashes with her index finger. The ticklish sensation on her fingertip was almost too much.

Suddenly, Sunwoo’s red lips caught Green’s eye. She wondered what it would feel like to touch those lips.

Green smiled mischievously to herself, then suddenly jolted in surprise. She slapped her forehead hard with her palm.

‘You’re crazy, Han Green. He’s finally asleep after being exhausted—what on earth are you thinking?’

Afraid that staying beside him would lead to more wild thoughts, Green quickly got out of bed.

Sleep had already fled, and when she looked out the window, the sky was faintly brightening with dawn.

‘Should I just prepare breakfast instead?’

Mrs. Ahn Sung had prepared plenty of side dishes, but Green wanted to make one or two just for Sunwoo.

After all, this was their first home-cooked meal together as a married couple.

Considering her pathetic cooking skills, the earlier she started, the better.

*****

After a long time, Sunwoo woke up refreshed from a deep sleep, and the bedroom felt both unfamiliar and familiar at the same time.

After blinking a few times, he finally realized this wasn’t the accommodation in Marseille but the master bedroom of their Seoul apartment.

‘I was definitely looking at photos with Green!’

Sunwoo sat up abruptly and looked around. The tablet PC they had been looking at together was neatly placed on the nightstand.

The mattress and blanket Green had laid on the floor were nowhere to be seen.

He had no memory of when he fell asleep, whether she slept on the bed or moved to the floor.

‘Damn it. She didn’t really sleep on the floor, did she?’

It was their first night together in a year of marriage—if he had made his wife sleep on the floor, he felt like the worst husband ever.

Just then, there was a loud clattering sound.

Sunwoo quickly got up and went to the living room. The noise seemed to be coming from the kitchen.

“What’s wrong? Are you hurt?”

He found Green squatting on the flooded kitchen floor, frantically scooping up something black.

“Ah, Sunwoo. You’re awake?”

Green looked up at him, her face full of embarrassment. It was the expression of someone caught in a moment they desperately didn’t want anyone to see.

“I’m not hurt— I was trying to wash the soaked seaweed, but my hand slipped and…”

“Didn’t Mrs. Ahn Sung prepare side dishes? Why the seaweed?”

Sunwoo crouched beside her and started gathering the scattered seaweed with his hands, but Green jumped and stopped him.

“Just leave it. I’ll clean it up quickly. Go wash up first.”

Despite her protests, Sunwoo collected the seaweed into a bowl and grabbed a mop to wipe the wet floor. Green fidgeted anxiously beside him.

“What were you planning to do with the seaweed?”

“Well, I remembered you saying you like seaweed soup.”

Sunwoo recalled the conversation they had during the family introduction meeting.

“What do chaebols usually eat?”

“Grilled fish and doenjang jjigae are on the table almost every day, and I like seaweed soup and japchae.”

“Really? That’s surprisingly ordinary.”

He was slightly touched that Green remembered a passing comment from a year ago and tried to make his favorite seaweed soup for him.

“I’ll have the seaweed soup next time—with lots of dried pollack.”

“Lots of dried pollack. Got it.”

Seeing Green smile, Sunwoo asked the question that had been on his mind since waking up.

“By the way, where did you sleep, Green?”

“Huh? Of course I went down to the floor after you fell asleep.”

“Ah, I see.”

Sunwoo sighed because he felt pathetic for making his wife sleep on the floor, but to Green, it looked like a sigh of relief.

‘Why is he relieved? Was he worried I might have attacked him if I slept on the bed?’

Muttering to herself inside, Green finally breathed normally once Sunwoo disappeared to wash up.

Remembering how she had secretly enjoyed the feel of his thick eyelashes made her feel like a thief—too nervous to breathe properly.

‘This must be why people say you can’t live after committing a sin.’

A self-mocking smile appeared on Green’s lips.

Finally pulling herself together, Green carefully set the breakfast table.

All she did was take out large containers of side dishes from the fridge and portion them into small plates, but she put her heart into it.

By the time Sunwoo returned to the kitchen, a decent-looking breakfast spread was ready.

Green scooped steaming hot rice into his bowl.

“You must be hungry. Eat a lot.”

Various seasoned vegetables, bulgogi, grilled fish, doenjang jjigae, and japchae—all the side dishes Sunwoo said he liked were on the table.

But among the familiar dishes, there was one unfamiliar side dish.

Noticing Sunwoo’s gaze on it, Green cautiously spoke as if confessing.

“All the other side dishes are from Mrs. Ahn Sung, but I made this seasoned seaweed myself. So it might not taste good.”

At that, one of Sunwoo’s eyebrows twitched.

“Don’t tell me you made it with the seaweed you spilled on the floor earlier?”

“No way!”

Green immediately got upset at his absurd guess.

No matter how bad she was at cooking, she wasn’t the type to cook with ingredients that had been on the floor.

“I soaked this one early in the morning. The earlier batch seemed too little for soup, so I was soaking more and accidentally spilled it.”

The longer her explanation went on, the smaller Green’s voice became. Meanwhile, Sunwoo’s smile grew wider.

“Thank you for the meal.”

Sunwoo’s chopsticks went straight for the seasoned seaweed. He piled a generous amount on top of his hot rice and took a big bite.

“How is it?”

“It’s delicious.”

“Really? Thank goodness. I’ve made seaweed soup a few times, but this is my first time making seasoned seaweed.”

Green looked genuinely relieved.

“How did you make it on your first try?”

“I followed the famous Teacher Baek’s recipe.”

Green shook her phone. It was a wonderful world where even cooking beginners could follow along easily if they searched well.

When Green’s chopsticks headed for the seasoned seaweed, Sunwoo coldly pulled the plate toward himself.

“I made it for me, so I’m going to eat it all by myself.”

“That’s so petty!”

Green stood up and went to the counter. In a large bowl was far more seasoned seaweed than what was on the plate.

Ignoring Sunwoo’s flustered look, Green scooped some and stuffed her mouth full.

“Ugh!”

The intense vinegar taste nearly paralyzed her tongue.

“What happened here?”

Green alternated between checking Teacher Baek’s recipe and the vinegar bottle.

Sunwoo, who didn’t want to hide the truth, looked at her with pity.

“The vinegar is labeled ‘3x vinegar,’ so I guess you’re supposed to use one-third of the normal amount.”

“Ah!”

Having a great realization, Green glared at the vinegar for a while, then strode back to the table and mercilessly removed the plate of seasoned seaweed.

She couldn’t forgive this thing that had forced Sunwoo, who never lied, to say it tasted good.

“There are plenty of other side dishes, so please enjoy anyway.”

Sunwoo sneaked a glance at Green. She pretended to focus on eating, but the moment their eyes met, she burst out laughing.

“Pfft! Oh come on! Stop staring—it’s embarrassing.”

“Pfft! Ah, sorry.”

“I’m going to have seaweed trauma. I won’t be able to make dried pollack seaweed soup for a while either. Just buy it from now on.”

“Understood. Pfft!”

Because they kept laughing throughout the meal, breakfast took much longer than usual. Sunwoo thought Green looked incredibly cute as she laughed while embarrassed.

Near the end of the meal, Sunwoo suddenly noticed that she had put quite a bit of effort into her outfit.

It wasn’t as fancy as when she went to his mother Park In Young’s gatherings, but she had light makeup on and was wearing a blouse that seemed uncomfortable for staying home.

At first he wondered if it was for him, but Sunwoo asked a more realistic question.

“Green, are you going out today?”

“I have to return the sponsored clothes to Hanna yesterday. Jenny said she’s only free at lunchtime, so I’m returning the clothes, taking photos with Jenny—it’s going to be a busy day.”

Sunwoo didn’t like the idea of being left alone in this huge apartment if Green went out.

Even though before marriage, he had lived here alone for over ten years just fine.

“Can I come with you?”

“You too, Sunwoo?”

“They’re your closest friends—I’d like to say hello too.”

“Actually, I’ve been getting cursed out by my friends all year. For not inviting them to the wedding.”

After thinking for a moment, Green suddenly became curious about Sunwoo’s friends too.

“If I introduce you to my friends, will you introduce me to yours?”

“You’ve already met my friend.”

“I have? When?”

“Secretary Ahn Yong Ki has been my friend since high school.”

“Don’t tell me Ahn is your only friend?”

“Yes.”

As expected, Sunwoo’s confident answer left Green speechless again. This man always managed to surprise or dumbfound her.
