Podeon couldn’t follow Dimidius when he headed to Geranium to find Orentia. It was because Dimidius had realized Podeon’s body hadn’t fully recovered yet and ordered him to remain at the ducal castle.

That incident had left Podeon feeling deeply aggrieved. Had he heard even slightly later that Orentia and Dimidius had arrived safely at the ducal residence in Geranium, he might have disobeyed the order.

Podeon had become so emotionally sensitive, missing Orentia terribly. He couldn’t tell whether this feeling was pure loyalty or something else mixed in.

While waiting for Orentia at the ducal castle, Podeon was engulfed in great turmoil.

Yet the moment Orentia arrived at the ducal castle, seeing her standing beside Dimidius made his chest flutter uncomfortably.

Podeon unconsciously made a gloomy expression.

‘Why am I acting like this…? Get a hold of yourself.’

It felt as though something utterly impossible had happened to him.

How could he dislike seeing his liege lady Orentia together with Dimidius? How could he wish to be alone with her? Had he finally lost his mind?

Although he had always found it odd that Dimidius referred to Orentia as “Lady” rather than his wife, the two clearly loved each other deeply. That fact remained unchanged, which only made Podeon more bewildered by his own emotions.

‘I need to return to how I was. This isn’t like me.’

Podeon had always taken pride in his life as a knight of the Belial Order. Therefore, he intended to suppress these slowly emerging feelings as much as possible. Otherwise, they might overflow without his noticing and be discovered by Orentia—something he couldn’t bear to imagine.

Gathering his tangled emotions, Podeon knelt before Orentia.

“I have already confessed my failure to His Grace the Grand Duke, but I am a sinner who failed to protect you, my Lady. If His Grace does not punish me, then please, my Lady, impose a punishment yourself.”

He simply wanted to be punished right away. Enduring pain might help him regain his senses. But Orentia bent down and tried hard to lift Podeon up by his arms.
