Regalis’s final words kept circling in Dimidius’s mind. On the train back to Belial territory, Dimidius glanced sideways at Orentia. She occasionally looked out the window at the passing scenery and smiled faintly.

“How much do I truly know about Orentia?”

Dimidius felt a sudden urge to understand her completely, with nothing hidden. He could clearly feel his heart pounding wildly.

After a brief hesitation, he asked her,

“Might you be hiding something from me?”

He expected no real reaction, but suddenly Orentia flinched. Could she really be keeping a secret?

As Dimidius’s expression grew darker, Orentia’s eyes widened.

“No, I mean… I am hiding something, but it’s important.”

“Do you not trust me? Of course, since you intended to leave far away until now, there must have been much you couldn’t tell me—but isn’t it fine to speak of it now?”

“It’s not just one or two things, and I haven’t yet made up my mind about them.”

Not only was she hiding something—it was multiple secrets. Dimidius felt a sharp pang in his heart and unconsciously clutched his chest. His chest burned with anxiety.

Noticing his distress, Orentia carefully added,

“One of them concerns the twins you newly contracted with His Highness. As part of our agreement, once their contract ends, we plan to leave together and earn money using holy power. It’s a bit of an adventure.”

Dimidius frowned at this completely unexpected revelation. Since he wasn’t wearing a mask anymore, he was slightly conscious of how his expression would appear directly to Orentia—but he couldn’t relax his face just yet.
