“What nonsense are you spouting? Whether I save the world or not, Your Grace has no interest in the imperial throne. If he did, he would have gathered his own faction long ago.”

Orentia was so convinced that Dimidius had no desire for the throne that she stated her opinion firmly. Though they had never directly discussed the matter, she believed that if Dimidius truly wanted it, his intentions would have shown outwardly by now.

Yet until this moment, Dimidius had concerned himself only with the Belial territory and the ducal palace.

Seeing Orentia’s frustration, Dimidius added,

“You would do well to avoid such dangerous remarks. Accusing someone based solely on suspicion without evidence will surely backfire.”

Dimidius’s voice carried great authority, and perhaps because of that, Regalis did not immediately retort but quietly assessed the situation.

While Regalis’s eyes darted restlessly, Lilith—silent until now—finally spoke.

“We won’t be staying in the Bonus Empire for very long. As soon as we find and destroy the Daemon bracelet, we’ll return to where we belong.”

At Lilith’s words, Dimidius’s expression turned bitter, and Regalis narrowed his eyes into sharp slits.

“It’s a matter I must discuss with His Imperial Majesty upon returning to the capital, but I cannot afford to grant you much time. The citizens of Bonus Empire are already gripped by fear—if they also hear rumors of your return, Great Aunt, the situation will only grow more complicated.”

Fear often paralyzed people’s reason. Though the secret was still contained, no one could predict what would happen next. As Regalis said, if rumors spread, something terrible was bound to occur. Newspapers would churn out articles stoking daily anxiety, and criticism against Lilith would be relentless.

All simply because she was a demon.

Yet in truth, she had already chosen humanity’s side, fully aware of the Demon King’s punishment awaiting her.
