Crown Prince Regalis appeared far more conspicuously than he had two months earlier when he had come to the Belial domain to hunt birds. He arrived in an extravagantly decorated carriage—one that would normally be reserved for the Founding Day Ball—and brought along a considerable number of knights. His luggage was much more extensive, and it felt as though the number of attendants accompanying him had increased as well.

It certainly wasn’t an atmosphere of warm welcome for Lilith, who had abruptly come to the human world. The Emperor apparently intended this as a warning to Regalis: by assigning him numerous knights and servants, he was signaling that any threat to Regalis, who stood in for the Emperor himself, would not be tolerated.

The Crown Prince, revealing himself from the carriage, wore a rigidly stern expression. His usual lighthearted and playful demeanor had vanished entirely, replaced by an air of solemn gravity.

Given that the fate of the Empire rested on this matter, such an attitude was understandable—though it was simply Regalis himself that made her discontent.

Striding with purposeful steps under the covered colonnade entrance, Regalis immediately locked eyes with Lilith. Unlike his previous visit for bird hunting, he showed no trace of laziness, clearly indicating how deeply troubled he was by Lilith, the so-called Queen of the Mongma.

In contrast, Lilith remained as composed as she had been when she first announced her meeting with the Crown Prince.

Lilith greeted Regalis first.

“It’s been a long time since I last saw you. Have you been well?”

Her casual, everyday greeting softened Regalis’s hardened expression slightly.

“In truth, it’s been nearly twenty years since we actually met. Back then, I was far too young to remember much.”

“That’s understandable. His Majesty the Emperor and Her Majesty the Empress never particularly favored me, so family banquets were practically nonexistent.”

Thus, Regalis and Lilith might as well have been strangers. For over ten years, Lilith had lived quietly within the Grand Ducal Palace in the Belial domain, never appearing at social gatherings or significant events. Although the Emperor likely wouldn’t have permitted it anyway, perhaps Lilith herself had preferred to avoid the awkwardness.

Amid the tense and uncomfortable atmosphere, Dimidius spoke to Regalis with a cold expression.

“Enough idle chatter—go inside.”

His tone was almost aggressively forceful.
