Are you drunk? I said, are you drunk?

Ra Jin swallowed a sigh as she stared at the shattered wine glass. Just what kind of nuisance was this?

“Are you alright?”

The man who had clearly been standing in front of the refrigerator moments ago seemed to have teleported—he was now already helping Ra Jin to her feet.

He quickly checked her face as if assessing her condition, then examined her legs and feet. Fortunately, she was wearing long pants, so her legs were fine, but her right hand looked as if she’d put on a red glove.

“I’m sorry. I’ll buy you the exact same wine glass.”

“No need to apologize. The real issue is your injury.”

His words—implying the wine glass itself was inconsequential—brought back a memory from childhood, when she’d broken her mother’s teacup. Back then, her mother had hugged her tightly, relieved she hadn’t gotten hurt. Why did that particular memory surface now? Completely unnecessary.

“I’ll hold your hand for a moment.”

He pulled out a handkerchief and quickly wrapped it around Ra Jin’s hand.

Sky-blue fabric peeked out between his large fingers, rapidly stained by spreading crimson.

“Does it hurt a lot?”

“Ugh… a little.”

“You’ll need to stop the bleeding and apply some ointment.”

The cut must have been deep—the back of her hand quickly grew damp. It was worrying enough that she wondered if she’d need stitches at the ER.
