“Princess Lisha. What on earth is that dress?”
Eva pushed her way through the ranks of guard knights.
Since Patricia’s departure for the front, the Imperial Palace Guard had visited the West Tower three times. The guards had finally succeeded in obtaining Prince Patrick’s signature on several documents.
In Eva’s judgment, the Empress Consort was clearly plotting to expose Princess Patricia—the so-called Shadow Princess—to the entire world. They couldn’t possibly allow her to be dragged off by the guards like this.
Though the Emperor’s intentions remained unclear, they first needed to arrange a meeting between the princess and Patrick.

“Lady Eva, Her Highness the Princess must be taken to the guards immediately.”
The usually composed Eva frantically lifted the hem of Patricia’s dress.
“My lord! Can’t you see? Her Highness isn’t sneaking into the palace in secret. Besides, she might soon be granted an audience with His Imperial Majesty. Moreover!”
Eva gently nudged Patricia backward through the bronze door.
“This will be the occasion to present the Princess officially before the nobility and the world. My lord, please allow her to change her dress and fix her hair before coming down.”
The knights hesitated at Eva’s sharp, resolute tone. Her words left them no room for argument. Eva followed Patricia up the stairs.
‘She spoke fiercely, yet her voice seemed tinged with tears.’
Midway up the West Tower stairs, Patricia turned around to look at Eva.
Eva, who had been gritting her teeth as she followed, looked up at the suddenly halted princess. Tears she’d been desperately holding back streamed silently down her cheeks.

Re-reading this chapter, it made realize how little Patricia regarding her life compared to Patrick, all because of her guilt over her twin’s sickness which she assumed caused by her taking away his nutrition during pregnancy (in my opinion, it’s an entirely absurd superstition and baseless theory at best). Glad Patricia has come far by started relying in Harchen until she can trust him and vice versa.
Oh! Harcen made a surf board and have Patricia surfing at the sea? That’s so nice of him! If I were her, I too would be thrilled as I riding the waves.
Could it be the grave with the red hibiscus is the late Empress’ (a.k.a Patricia and Patrick’s mom) grave? Talk about cutting onion.
