Hades, seeming to grasp Latifa’s intent, silently broke into a wide grin, then swiftly hardened his expression again and shouted to Shadi’s people.

“You there. Rise and dispense with your formalities. Do you truly think I would go so far as to kill you?”

The princes of Shadi rose from their seats and immediately supported their trembling younger sister, gently patting her back.

Latifa let out a small sigh, half envious and half pitying, as she watched them.

“Princes of Shadi. When a child misbehaves, discipline within the household is necessary, wouldn’t you agree?”

“Yes. We shall properly admonish our younger sister so this never happens again.”

At Shadi 1’s reply, Hades smiled contentedly and suddenly turned to Latifa.

“Now then, Latifa. Choose one between hinoki cypress and willow.”

“……?”

Why suddenly trees, right after talking about punishment?

“Hinoki is somewhat dull but satisfying to strike with, while willow is thin yet produces a crisp sound upon impact. I myself would choose hinoki, but willow has its own charm—one cannot simply dismiss it.”

‘Is he… seriously suggesting they’ll beat someone?’

Hades stroked his chin, genuinely deep in thought.
