Hades simply nodded and indifferently grasped the camel’s reins, heading back toward the front of the procession.

“Hmph. Since when did Grand Bazaar become such a great nation?”
Hades snorted.
“The Empire was pathetic—defeated by soldiers trained only to fend off petty thieves and bandits, and hastily recruited desert conscripts. It wasn’t because we were some mighty nation that we won.”
“The blood of the desert is strong. We who worship the sun and flames are instinctively drawn to strength.”
“Who cares what anyone says.”
Hades waved his hand dismissively.
“Isn’t it General Hades himself, so strong and resolute, who serves as the flame binding us together? O Ignite, Flame among Flames, please reconsider and lead the victory parade. Your reputation would surely improve a little.”
“Ugh! How bothersome!”
As Manut kept pressing him, Hades snapped as if scolding a child. At that sharp tone, Manut flinched back with a squeak and couldn’t utter another word.
“I’ll bestow the glory of victory upon you, Manut. You’ve rendered me no small service in this war, so I must repay you. Lead the parade yourself from the front and proceed straight to the palace.”
