Latifa jerked her body backward as if her fingertips had been burned by fire, but Luhan held her firmly, as though determined not to let her go.

“Luhan. You deliberately chose this scene, didn’t you?”

“You caught me.”

“You never even tried to hide it.”

“No. I didn’t.”

Strangely, even as one side of her chest felt heavily weighed down, her heart beat rapidly.

Latifa began to feel powerless—powerless at how easily she was swayed by such things. She had firmly believed she’d become a slightly better person than before.

She had thought herself stronger than in those days as the hollow Imperial Princess, unable to utter a word, yet before the massive sandstorm they stirred up, she still felt as though she were nothing.

“Do you love me?”

A cool breeze fluttered again, drawing ripples across the water’s surface.
