Brother, You're Mistaken (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 2
Hye Ju couldn’t even bring herself to look down and clenched her fists tightly.
‘What should I do?’
She must’ve picked up his underwear along with the gift she’d dropped on the floor. And not just any underwear—Kang Joo Won’s!
‘Who in their right mind leaves their underwear lying around so carelessly anyway?!’
Seung Won’s apartment was notoriously messy. Naturally laid-back, he only had a housekeeper come once a week, and aside from that day, the place always resembled a pigsty. You practically had to hop on tiptoes to avoid stepping on the clutter strewn about like some chaotic constellation.
How was I supposed to know whether it was underwear or leftover pork knuckles rolling around in there?!
‘Why did it have to be Kang Joo Won’s underwear…’
No matter how hard she tried to look calm, her eyes twitched uncontrollably.
“Um… that is…”
“Besides, would it really be any different if it were you, Oh Hye Ji?”
It’s Oh Hye Ju, not Oh Hye Ji.
His voice was so sharp she didn’t dare correct him. Joo Won crossed his arms and looked down at Hye Ju.
“You knew I was coming back to Korea, didn’t you?”
With nowhere to look, Hye Ju kept her eyes fixed nervously on his toes.
“Answer.”
“…Yes.”
“And you also knew this house belongs to me?”
“…Yes.”
“Do you still not have your feelings sorted out?”
Damn it!
She could tolerate anything else—but not this ridiculous misunderstanding. Hye Ju lifted her head sharply, no longer the meek lamb bowing submissively.
“Why is this even turning into that kind of talk?”
“You should know better than anyone why things have spiraled this way.”
Sigh.
“You liked me, didn’t you? For about ten years, maybe?”
His confidence was honestly admirable—but from her end, it was utterly absurd. He couldn’t even remember her name correctly, yet he had the nerve to bring up something from over a decade ago. Her fists ached—they wanted to cry.
‘Ugh, seriously.’
A distant memory resurfaced in her mind.
It was her first year of high school, Pepero Day. She’d gone to confess to Seung Won, but somehow ended up giving the Pepero to Joo Won instead—that fateful, ridiculous day.
She remembered hauling a tower of heart-shaped Pepero sticks as tall as herself up a hill, waiting well into the night for Seung Won to come home, and finally seeing him appear past midnight—with the school’s biggest player clinging to his side…
Panicked that her secret crush might become school-wide gossip, she’d tossed the Pepero away recklessly—and of all places, it landed right in Kang Joo Won’s arms. Back then, Hye Ju had been young, and putting out the fire at her feet mattered more than worrying about the consequences.
Though various things happened afterward, they hadn’t exchanged a single word since Joo Won left for the U.S. to study abroad.
Wasn’t it completely unreasonable for him to still think she liked him after all this time?
“It’s been ten years since we last met—why are you spouting nonsense like this? I don’t even like you!”
“The evidence is far too solid to call it a misunderstanding.”
“What evidence?”
“That thing in your hand.”
“I just came to retrieve something important to me… I mean, it’s not the underwear that’s important! It’s what’s inside the underwear!”
Something inside the underwear…?
Kang Joo Won’s eyes narrowed.
His gaze slid slowly downward along the exposed hollow of his chest. Hye Ju frantically waved her hands in denial.
“It’s not that kind of item!”
“Who are you calling vulgar?”
“I wasn’t talking about your thing! Honestly, this is really unfair for me too! The truth is…”
Just as she was desperately scrambling for words—
Tick. Tick-tick-tick-tick. Tick-tick. Ding-dong-dang.
The sound of the door lock entering the passcode came through.
“Oh Hye Ju, I’ve been looking everywhere for you! I wondered where you disappeared off to without a word, and here you were at home… Huh? Hyung?”
Seung Won pushed open the studio door and stepped inside. Da Hee was right behind him.
‘Damn it! Why right now?!’
Trending
Hye Ju hastily stuffed the item into her pocket.
Seung Won stared blankly, alternating between his half-naked brother and Hye Ju’s crimson face, clearly struggling to make sense of the scene before him.
“Uh… I didn’t know you two were together. Where should I even start? Hyung, you know Hye Ju, right? She’s been my friend since high school.”
“Did you two set up housekeeping here? She just punched in the code and walked right in.”
“Housekeeping, my foot! Hye Ju and I are absolutely just 100% platonic friends! Anyway, why’d you come back to Korea so early? Here, put some clothes on first.”
Noticing Da Hee’s flushed face, Seung Won picked up some clothes from the floor and tossed them to Joo Won, who caught the gray windbreaker with one hand and replied,
“I messaged you I was arriving today.”
“Huh? Did you?”
“Three days ago.”
“Oh… that was the day the new in-game item dropped.”
Seung Won scratched his head. He loved gaming so much that he often pulled all-nighters, and on those days, he’d show up to work practically zombie-like.
He must’ve been half-asleep from gaming all night and only vaguely seen the message.
“Anyway, sorry about letting friends come in and out like this. I was planning to clean everything up before you got back. But Oh Hye Ju—why are you here? You vanished out of nowhere during drinks, and I’ve been looking all over for you.”
Under the sudden shift of attention, Hye Ju clutched the gift box tightly in her pocket.
No matter what, she couldn’t let them discover the gift. Not with Da Hee staring at her with such genuine, worried eyes—she absolutely couldn’t let her feelings be exposed.
“Director Kang Joo Won.”
Having gathered her thoughts, Hve Ju straightened her stiff shoulders.
“Since you’ll be starting work the week after next, it’s proper to address you as Director, isn’t it? I apologize for entering your home without permission, but my purpose here today wasn’t about you. I came to retrieve something I left behind in this house.”
Please, just go along with it! Let’s wrap this up already!
“Right! Didn’t you say you’d left something at our place? Was it your cosmetics?”
Clueless, Seung Won tried his best to back her up—
“Something you left behind.”
The moment the corners of Kang Joo Won’s mouth lifted into a smirk, Hye Ju instinctively knew things were about to get very messy.
“But earlier, it didn’t look like cosmetics.”
“Huh? It’s not cosmetics?”
Sensing something odd, Seung Won tilted his head in confusion.
“Oh Hye Ju, didn’t you say earlier you’d left either a sheet mask or lip balm?”
“Uh… well…”
Wasn’t the phrase “speechless silence” coined precisely for moments like this?
Unable to give a proper answer, Hye Ju let the atmosphere grow unbearably awkward. In the tense, fragile silence—as if one wrong word would shatter everything—Da Hee, standing behind Seung Won, spoke up carefully.
“Hye Ju, I think the Director might be misunderstanding something. Since he was surprised to find someone in what he thought was an empty house, why don’t you just show him what you came to get? It’d be better to clear things up honestly than let this misunderstanding grow.”
Damn it, Cheon Da Hee. You might as well ask me to strip naked and do an Indian dance. What’s in my pocket is absolutely something I can’t show anyone—not even if you held a knife to my throat! This is… this is…!
“If you’re going to make friends, at least choose them more carefully. What even is this? You’re not some stalker.”
Exhausted, Joo Won sighed quietly and turned away. Oddly enough, that was a relief for Hye Ju.
That’s it—wrap it up here. Now I can just leave as if nothing happened. I’ll figure out some explanation later.
“Stalker?! Isn’t that way too harsh for my friend?”
Just as Seung Won protested indignantly—
Brrram-ba-bam! Brrram-brrram-ba-bam!
Fanfare blasted from her pocket. Hye Ju stared blankly at the wall clock.
It was exactly midnight.
‘God, just kill me now.’
The gift box she’d stuffed into her pocket popped open. From the bulging pocket, a Gundam figure jiggled and danced. Sweet music flowed out. Despair flooded Hye Ju’s heart.
I’ve watched over you for so long
Even when you weren’t by my side
Even when we were far apart
My eyes were always fixed on you
Waiting and waiting and waiting
For your sparkling gaze to touch my lips
Praying and praying and praying
After wandering so far apart

Will you finally accept me now?
Why did the lyrics have to be so painfully perfect?
“Oh Hye Ju… are you really my brother’s stalker?”
Seung Won’s pupils trembled in utter shock. Hye Ju numbly looked around at the three faces.
Seung Won, utterly stunned; Da Hee, covering her mouth in disbelief; and Kang Joo Won, tilting his head slightly with a clear “See?” expression.
It was too late to explain. There was no way left to defend herself without revealing her feelings for Seung Won.
Hye Ju bit her lip hard. After one last look at Da Hee’s wide, startled eyes—like a frightened rabbit—she bowed deeply toward Joo Won.
“I’m sorry it turned out like this. Go ahead and report me if you want.”
Thud.
Behind her turned back, the door closed shut.
To the tune of the earnest confession song, the Gundam jiggled noisily.
April 1st—April Fools’ Day.
For Hye Ju, whose past April Fools’ pranks had never gone beyond switching seats in class or wearing her uniform backward, something unbelievable happened.
‘This has to be a dream… It can’t be real.’
Her phone clock read 2:00 PM on April 1st. Da Hee and Seung Won had been calling nonstop since dawn, but she couldn’t bring herself to answer.
‘They’re dating…?’
More shocking than last night’s humiliation was the image of Da Hee clinging to Seung Won with a cutesy smile—and Seung Won looking down at her with such tender affection. Just thinking about the two of them made her chest throb painfully.
‘You could’ve at least told me beforehand. If you had, I wouldn’t have prepared such a ridiculous, impossible prank…’
She felt too guilty even to resent them—let alone look them in the eye.
Hye Ju switched off her phone and sat hunched over in her studio, staring blankly at the items scattered on the floor. In the wide-open gift box lay the Gundam, having heroically fallen after finishing its confession song. Beside it was a plain black pair of underwear.
“Oh Hye Ju, you’re insane, seriously…”
She’d actually walked out of Kang Joo Won’s house with his ‘worn underwear.’
It hadn’t been intentional. With no right moment or situation to retrieve it from her pocket alongside the gift, she’d simply fled the scene like a runaway. Honestly, who would even know what to do with someone else’s worn underwear?
“I’m going crazy. What the hell am I supposed to do with this damn underwear?”
Having stayed wide awake all night, Hye Ju glared at the underwear as though it were Kang Joo Won’s very soul.
She knew she had to return it—it was someone else’s property—but she didn’t have Kang Joo Won’s contact info. She could easily get it through Seung Won, but she couldn’t bear to face him, so she’d turned off her phone and couldn’t bring herself to call.
‘Should I just throw it away?’
Kang Joo Won wasn’t some broke guy who couldn’t afford new underwear, and he definitely wasn’t the type to obsess over a single pair like a lunatic—so discarding it should be fine. She could just claim it must’ve slipped out of her pocket unnoticed.
“But what’s this?”
Yet as she moved to throw it away, she noticed tiny stitching on the waistband. The lettering was so small and subtle, she would’ve missed it entirely if not for the faint roughness under her fingertips.
“What is this?”
It resembled Chinese characters, but no matter how hard she squinted, she couldn’t make it out. It didn’t seem like standard labeling, and definitely wasn’t a brand name. It was unthinkable that Kang Joo Won would wear someone else’s underwear, so maybe it was a signature from whoever gifted it to him?
‘Now I feel weird throwing it away.’
If it held some special meaning, discarding it felt deeply inappropriate. After agonizing over the awkward item for a while, she finally decided to return it later at the office.
Ding-dong! Ding-dong!
The doorbell rang.
‘It must be Da Hee or Seung Won.’
Hye Ju didn’t respond. They’d each come by once earlier that morning, but she’d pretended not to be home. She didn’t want to face them with her puffy, swollen eyes, nor did she have any good answer ready for why she’d vanished during last night’s drinks.
‘Please, just go away…’
Just as she pulled the blanket over her head to ignore it—
“Ms. Oh Hye Ju, are you home?”
A deep male voice came from beyond the door.
Boom-boom-boom!
They pounded so loudly she couldn’t pretend not to hear anymore. Hye Ju dragged open her heavy eyelids and looked at the intercom.
“Who is it?”
“Police. Are you Ms. Oh Hye Ju?”
“Yes, that’s me. What’s this about?”
Confused by the police uniform on the screen, she received a thunderbolt of an answer.
“There’s been a report of stolen worn underwear. Could you please come out for a moment?!”
“!”

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife
I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro
When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.
After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.
Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.
Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.
At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.
Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.
The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.
He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.
[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
