He stood behind Whitney and placed a necklace around her neck. Still standing before the mirror, Whitney saw an emerald necklace now adorning her neck. The gemstone—clear, vivid green as if capturing verdure itself—sparkled each time she moved.

“I bought it because I thought it would suit you. Seems I made the right choice.”

“…Thank you, Your Highness.”

“What I’ve given pales in comparison to what I’ve received. Since we still have time, how about a cup of tea?”

“Would that be alright?”

“There are people eager to meet you. And since it’d be troublesome if others saw me, I snuck into the palace.”

At Chester’s words, Whitney tilted her head slightly. Soon after, following him into the reception room, someone rushed over and clung to her legs.
