This is strange. I mean, it’s really strange.

“Why hasn’t there been any reply?”

She had clearly left the section for Chester’s requested terms blank, asking only that he sign and send it back—but days had passed and nothing arrived.

‘Did he dislike my terms?’

From His Highness’s perspective, there was nothing unacceptable in her conditions. She’d merely written that she wished to annul their engagement once she safely inherited the governorship.

Her debutante event was fast approaching, so the engagement needed to be finalized before then.

“No word from the dye merchants either. I even visited the address on the business card I received back then, but found nothing useful.”

She’d contacted her informant as well, but only received a reply that no one had been purchasing dyes, making it impossible to track anything down. Whitney sank onto her bed, her head spinning with frustration.

As she sank into the soft blanket, sleepiness washed over her.

‘At least it’s fortunate that no one knows, thanks to Her Majesty summoning me in secret.’

If rumors had spread, Melissa would’ve come rushing over by now—perhaps even caused a scene, demanding why Whitney hadn’t taken her along. Though, admittedly, that outburst would’ve been directed at her alone, not in front of others.
