Blackening the Affectionate Male Lead (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 22
Melissa, who had seemed unlikely to come, arrived in dazzling finery. Everyone’s gaze shifted to her. Smiling brightly as if she were the star of the show, she captivated everyone’s attention.
“Whitney, it feels like ages since I’ve attended such a splendid banquet.”
“Welcome, sister. I was worried you wouldn’t come since you were running late.”
“Nonsense. It’s your invitation—how could I possibly skip it?”
Whitney nodded. Melissa’s red hair was elegantly coiffed, revealing her smooth neckline. Her sparkling dress shimmered even more radiantly under the chandelier’s light.
‘She must’ve bought another dress with the money Aunt gave her.’
The dress alone on Melissa must have cost a fortune. In contrast, Whitney exuded elegance through clean, refined lines. Their differing auras stirred curiosity in the onlookers’ eyes.
At first glance, they appeared like a harmonious family, but their eyes held nothing but icy coldness. Melissa stared straight at Whitney, the corners of her mouth lifted ever so slightly.
“I came because I was worried my younger sister might be lacking in anything. Is everyone enjoying themselves?”
“Oh my, Lady Melissa! I thought you wouldn’t come after all. You truly brighten the room. Is that the latest design?”
“Yes, it’s a new dress by Madame Fontage—one of the lines crafted especially for this social season. You certainly have an excellent eye.”
As soon as Melissa arrived, everyone’s attention turned to her dress. Whitney offered a faint smile and observed their swift shift in attitude.
‘Sides will split again right here.’
She didn’t care. In fact, their behavior only worked in Whitney’s favor—once their allegiances were clear, it would be easier to identify whom to filter out later.
Though she had indeed invited the key figures from the capital’s center, as Sonia suggested, few had stepped forward. Instead, the place overflowed with those merely gauging the situation, trying to decide which side to join.

After Being Cheated On, She Picked Up a Treasure (Female-dominant)
One-line summary: The husband I married on a whim had been secretly in love with me for a long time.
On the day when Jun Shao finally obtained the imperial decree for her marriage, Lan Qu, the person she had admired for six years, defied the decree and ran away.
Her gentleness and devotion, her promise of a lifetime together, were all disregarded by him. Instead, he dreamed of entering the palace to serve the Emperor’s sister as a sixth-rank attendant.
News of this incident spread throughout the capital, and the alleys in front of and behind the Lan mansion were crowded with people who came to watch the commotion.
Jun Shao should have been embarrassed and angry.
But someone stepped in to protect her dignity.
The figure was in a miserable state, yet still possessed an undeniable elegance and handsomeness.
The young lord struggled to climb the wall of the Lan mansion and shouted to her, “If he won’t marry you, I will!”
So, Jun Shao took advantage of the situation and married the person.
She thought the young lord did it to save the Lan family from the crime of defying the imperial decree, but never imagined that from beginning to end, what he coveted was her.
*
After the wedding, Jun Shao felt like she was living in a dream.
Her Wife-master was as beautiful as a fairy in a painting, skilled in the six arts, well-versed in poetry and literature, capable of being gentle and attentive, and also grand and dignified. Most importantly, she was the only one in his heart and eyes.
Jun Shao didn’t know how Lan Shiwu, as a illegitimate son without a father and blessed with beauty, had managed to preserve his purity, recklessly escape, and use his last ounce of strength to ruin his own reputation, all because of his love for her, just to stand before her.
She could only see him gazing at her with eyes full of love, and when she bestowed a name upon him, his eyes shone like stars.
“You have come to me like a weary bird perching on a branch. I shall call you A Qi.”

He really fell in love, just like that, hehehehehe 😅
I wonder why all the heroines fail to understand that the other person has fallen in love with them and instead come up with flimsy excuses. 😅
Bro, what’s wrong with this despicable man? He’s disgusting 😮💨How can he aspire to be king when he’s so vile?
