Though this dress, too, had been sent by Monsieur Lebelom, Whitney had begun feeling guilty about always just receiving gifts, so she sent him an opal along with a bottle of wine. The dress was made of sky-blue fabric with a square neckline, revealing her slender neck. Slightly modified to resemble an off-shoulder style, it exposed her smooth, straight shoulders. A ribbon at the bodice drew the eye briefly before the sleeves, flaring slightly just above the elbows and edged with lace, emphasized her femininity.

The dress’s wavelike curves appeared refreshing at a glance. Sky-blue fabric layered in the middle prevented monotony, and a single overlay of lace added volume and richness.

Around her neck hung multiple strands of snow-white pearls. Moreover, nestled among Whitney’s brown hair were tiny white flowers and pearls, adding delicate highlights.

“No one will be able to tear their eyes away from Your Grace.”

“Hmm, that sounds rather burdensome.”

“You’ve become the diamond of high society—it’s only natural. Enjoy it until the next diamond appears. And Prince Chester has arrived.”
