To him, whatever she said was an unbreakable decree. He couldn’t possibly show Beatrice that he’d dare oppose Caella’s words. Caella must have her own reasons.

Thus, Pheon merely gave a silent nod and added not a single word. In the end, Beatrice Lavalle decided to stay in the duchess’s chamber—a room the Grand Duchess had never once used.

“Please show her the way.”

“I know where it is myself.”

Beatrice snapped sharply, as if to say, “I’ve visited Lusenford Castle far more than you have,” spun on her heel, and left. Helplessly, the remaining head lady-in-waiting whispered to Caella.
