Each of Da Jung’s words pierced Tae Sang’s eardrums fiercely. He clenched the towel in his hand tightly.

“Mr. Tae Sang…?”

Sensing a subtle shift in pressure above her head, Da Jung lifted her gaze.

Tae Sang stood still, silently meeting her clear eyes. Slowly, his Adam’s apple bobbed once, deeply.

When had this thirst begun?

It felt as if a sun had settled inside his chest, burning relentlessly. Even though she stood right before him, even though he held her hand, he always felt a sense of lack, of insufficiency.

Whenever that feeling arose, Tae Sang pulled Da Jung closer, tighter. Yet, no matter how suffocatingly he embraced her, this yearning never faded.

He had no room for ease. The recurring fear—that she might leave him once she discovered who he truly was—kept unsettling his heart. It felt as if his heart were slowly rusting from within, crumbling bit by bit.

Tae Sang finally accepted the truth he had long avoided. As expected, one could never become wholly one while keeping secrets.

He knelt down on one knee, meeting her wide, round eyes.

“I have something to tell you.”

Though he dreaded saying it.

“A confession I’ve wanted to make for a long time.”

Though he had run from it for years.
