It’s already been nearly a week since Jun returned to Japan. He said he also had to handle business in the U.S. this time, so it really is accurate to say it’s only been about a week now.

Even though Jun and I are often apart due to his schedule, it still somehow never feels easy to get used to.

From long experience, whether I’m feeling lonely or whether I’m just happy to hear your voice on the phone between your busy appointments—that’s just how it is. Sometimes, when I can’t hold it in anymore, I whine a little, but then immediately switch gears as if nothing happened, listing all the things I want to do together when you come back to Korea. That’s how I’ve learned to get through the times we’re apart, and it’s always been better that way.

If I truly can’t get used to these occasional separations, then this way is better for me. And if my haphazard compromises somehow give you even a little peace of mind, then this way is certainly much better.

Thinking about it now, maybe that’s exactly why I’ve been casually saying “But it’s okay” over and over again—like it’s as routine as eating meals—right after throwing a brief tantrum.

Leaning my chin on my hand in the broadcasting station office, I found myself lost in thoughts of you, as if by habit. Through the window, I could see a huge Christmas tree far off in the distance. Maybe I shouldn’t look at it. Should I just pull down the blinds? It only makes me feel lonelier for no reason….

“Director Kim, when on earth is he coming back?”

“Huh? Oh—Seo Jung Eun….”

“You’re startled? I clearly walked in making plenty of noise. It’s because you were spacing out so deeply.”

This isn’t the first or second time it’s happened, yet every single time I catch you like this. That proves Jung Eun was right the last time she said it wasn’t about her suddenly talking to you out of nowhere—it’s about how, no matter how obviously I approach, you just zone out so completely into your own world.

“Ji Hoon and Min Seo went abroad together with Director Kim this time, right? On the last fan meeting day, I briefly ran into Min Seo and heard a bit. Their schedule in Japan and the U.S.—stage greetings, interviews, talk shows—it’s absolutely insane. I accidentally brought up sightseeing and instantly looked like the most clueless person ever.”

“…I already know all of that.”

There’s no reason to blame Jung Eun. I turned my head away from her as she listed off Jun’s packed schedule—things I already knew—and looked out the window again, wishing it would just snow heavily. If only the snow would pour down hard and refresh everything, then I could stomp through it freely and lift my mood.

“Yeah, of course you’d already know everything. You’ve heard it all directly from Kim Jun himself.”

“Yeah. Of course I know—it’s all from me, too.”

Chapter 165 Chapter 164

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
