“Oh, so this place has changed like this.”

My gaze swept carefully across the living room scenery, as if playing a hidden-object game, pausing here and there intermittently.

The art team had placed decorative items that hadn’t originally existed in Jun’s house, and each time I spotted one, I found myself pulling my head back from its casual downward sweep—again and again. Mostly, they were quaint little ornaments that enhanced the space’s uniquely calm and warm atmosphere.

Next to the living room door hung a small, faded calendar, and in the right-hand corner of the room—which had previously been empty and rather barren—now stood an antique brown tea cabinet.

The modern-style table that had occupied the center of this room since my homestay nine years ago had been replaced by an old-fashioned, low, round dining table lacquered on all sides.

Jun’s and my script must have been nothing but dry text, completely devoid of color—but just from that script alone, the production team had somehow drawn the tranquil, nostalgic ambiance of a countryside seaside village right into the house. I couldn’t help but let out an admiring sigh.

“Writer Lee! Oh, Director Kim—hello! Did you just arrive?”

Amid the bustling crew members moving briskly through every corner of the space, I’d momentarily stood still and quiet—when suddenly, Mi Jung spotted us from the second floor and quickly bounded down the stairs, greeting us brightly.

“Yeah, we just got here. But are we sure we came to the right house? It’s become so pretty.”

“Right? It really is beautiful. At first, when we only saw photos, it just looked like an old house with only the necessary items placed inside—nothing special. It had that subtle charm, but it wasn’t exactly impressive.”

“I didn’t realize you disliked it that much.”

Jun, who had been silently listening beside me, let slip a faintly sarcastic remark. I forced myself to nod along to Mi Jung without giving it too much thought—after all, I’d felt exactly the same way.

“Yeah. For a Japanese house, it’s surprisingly spacious, has great sunlight, and so many spots that could be decorated to look even prettier—but it was so empty.”

“I’m sorry it felt so barren. And here I was, dragging you into that kind of place back then without even realizing.”

Even though we’d agreed not to reveal our relationship on set, he just had to act so carelessly like this before filming had even begun. I shot him an annoyed and worried glance.
