I hadn’t seen Jun for several days. By now, even my sense of time had shifted slightly—days I met Jun, days I didn’t. Yet something remained unchanged. Whether I saw you or not, I was always thinking of you.

Working on the screenplay with you served as a good excuse. After all, recalling memories of you had become part of my job—because you were always there in those memories. That allowed me to deceive myself into believing that thinking of you wasn’t born from some lingering attachment.

But lying to the version of me in our memories from nine years ago frightened me. I thought the best I could do for you was to help you move away from the me you remembered. Yet every time I tried to transfer those memories into script format, my fingertips trembled.

Was it really right for me to ruin these beautiful scenes I remembered with my own hands? The answer that felt right for you didn’t feel right for me. I wanted to do what was best for you, yet I also wanted to protect the “us” preserved in those memories. From the very start, it was full of contradictions. A deep sigh lingered around my lips several times before finally dispersing.

For a moment, I gazed out the window next to my desk in the office. It was around this time that I truly began to believe Jun really was a true professional. I recalled the words he’d said to me right before we parted, after he’d carried my laptop bag all the way to my front door.

“Lee Ha Ru. Have you finished your script yet?”

“Not entirely. I’ve got a good portion of it done.”

“A good portion… Well, I guess I’d have to take a look myself to really know. You didn’t just dump a bunch of dialogue and scene directions in there, did you?”

“…….”

“Ah, judging by your expression, you totally did.”

“But… isn’t that what scripts are supposed to be—mostly dialogue and directions?”

“No. Because I already know the story. After all, I lived through those memories with you.”

“Well… Yeah, I guess that’s true.”

“And I already told you why I wanted to write this script together with you.”

“Yeah….”
