When Tae Seo woke up, tossing in the blinding sunlight, he smiled even before opening his eyes, aware of the arm wrapped around his waist.

The birdsong settling in the garden, the faint scratching sound of the cat in his room since dawn, and Jae In’s quiet breathing as she slept tightly embracing him—everything made for a perfect morning.

The only problem was his body, which felt oddly sluggish and heavy. His throat seemed slightly swollen too—swallowing made him grimace involuntarily.

Tae Seo lingered for a long while, savoring the weight of Jae In’s arm around him from behind, the tickle of her hair and breath against his back, before carefully sitting up.

As sudden dizziness washed over him, he squeezed his eyes shut—only to feel a sweet, muffled voice curling into his ears.

“Mmm….”

Forgetting his headache at Jae In’s tiny whine, he let his twitching lips relax into a smile. He gently reached out and tucked her tousled hair behind her ear, revealing her pale, puffy face—swollen from crying so hard and so long.

All through the black night until it turned blue with dawn, Tae Seo had confessed his childhood to Jae In. The trauma he’d kept buried deep inside had also been his weakness—this was the first time he’d ever revealed it to anyone.

He’d told her how his birth mother’s obsessive fixation had been directed toward him—because he looked just like his father—yet how she’d remained utterly indifferent to little Tae Seo himself, leaving all care and attention to hired staff.

It had been quiet abuse stretched over many years. His time living with his birth mother in England had left Tae Seo dry and withered. Eventually, the once bright and clever child lost his sparkle.

“I had to study even the things other people didn’t, just to seem like a normal person. There was no choice—if I didn’t, I’d go mad. Because I learned emotional interaction from books, I’m sometimes awkward. Even so, am I… okay with you?”

“Huhh….”

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier. I looked fine on the outside, but inside I was completely rotten. If you accuse me of tricking you, I couldn’t blame you. I wouldn’t be able to bear it.”

Apologizing for being a half-formed human, raised with so much missing, Jae In bit her lip hard and shook her head. Then, bursting into louder sobs, she opened her arms wide toward him—and he found her unbearably, madly adorable.

Last night, Jae In had kept holding Tae Seo close. Even in sleep, she hadn’t let go of him, and her tender possessiveness felt utterly blissful.

Chapter 165 Chapter 164

My Ex-Girlfriend Is The Regent In The Female-dominant World (Male lead transmigrates to the matriarchal world)

Two years ago, Gu Sui picked up a homeless woman in ancient costume from the street.

Apart from occasionally claiming to be a princess from a female-dominant country due to illness, her figure, appearance, intelligence, and martial arts skills were impeccable.

Naturally evolving from roommates to girlfriends, as time went on, Gu Sui found it increasingly difficult to tolerate her queen syndrome.

“Mu Jiulu, can you stop controlling me inside and out? Let’s break up.”

Gu Sui made a breakup call, and since then, he couldn’t find any trace of her.

A year later, Gu Sui, who was planning to move, woke up the next day and found himself in a different place.

“Young Master, today is the day you choose your Wife-master through martial arts competition at Jade Dew Pavilion. Please get up quickly.”

Gu Sui: Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?

As the only son of a general’s mansion in a female-dominant dynasty, the young empress personally issued a decree allowing Gu Sui to select his Wife-master through martial arts competition. Whoever could defeat him could marry him.

Gu Sui: “……”

He didn’t inherit the original owner’s martial prowess, so anyone could defeat him! And what the hell is a Wife-master?

Forced to come to Jade Dew Pavilion, the densely packed women below made Gu Sui’s agoraphobia act up, and his face was full of resistance.

Until he saw the Regent sitting on the second floor, with a smile on the corner of her lips, her eyes wicked and nonchalant.

Hmm… she looked a little familiar.

It turned out that the Regent also found him a little familiar.

Mu Jiulu fiddled with her bone clasp, her deep gaze locked on the man who was out of place in this world.

“Finally, I found you.”
