“Kang Tae Seo, what’s gotten into you? Ever since that welcome-back reception, you’ve been skipping every single gathering.”

“Right? Even coming to Kang Seon Art Center, I didn’t expect to see Kang Tae Seo. But I guess since it’s an event hosted by Kang Seon, he finally showed his face?”

Standing among those trying to strike up a conversation, Tae Seo gave a vague nod. Thirty minutes had already passed the scheduled time.

Since it was a charity event at the art center, most attendees were dressed elegantly yet lavishly in monochrome tones.

A few stood out with soft pink, aqua, or coral hues to emphasize vibrancy—but to Tae Seo, they all looked the same. Because Yoon Jae In was nowhere to be seen.

Tae Seo swept the gallery with indifferent eyes, then cast another glance toward the entrance. His parched throat couldn’t be quenched by non-alcoholic champagne.

“You know how many glasses of that you’ve had?”

“Go grab me some sparkling water. This is too sweet—I can’t drink any more.”

“Got another headache?”

“Yeah.”

At Tae Seo’s affirmation, Jun Kyung raised his hand toward a server. Tae Seo rubbed his temples, which throbbed tightly, and checked his watch once again.

Was Yoon Jae In really not coming? Had he pushed too hard with this setup? After all, someone hiding from their own father would need a truly irresistible lure to risk showing up.

But the best thing Kang Tae Seo had was himself. So he offered himself as bait, hoping Jae In would desire him enough to appear.

“Tae Seo’s been staring at his watch since earlier. Is there someone you’re waiting for?”

“Are you waiting for Jo Yuri? Isn’t she your fiancée? Why didn’t you come together?”
