The elevator stopped in the basement and the doors opened. Da Hyun snapped out of her thoughts and followed Min Hyuk, only to halt her steps shortly after.

Noticing she had stopped, Min Hyuk halted as well.

Da Hyun looked at the man with one hand in his pocket and the other holding shopping bags.

Her eyelids lowered and lifted again.

It bothered her that Min Hyuk had spent both time and money on her at the department store. Moreover, seeing him sharply retort to Ji Yeon left her momentarily stunned by a strangely refreshing sense of satisfaction.

“Why’d you suddenly stop walking? If your legs hurt, just say so. I’ll carry you.”

Min Hyuk tilted his head slightly and loosely tugged up one corner of his mouth.

“It’s fine, really. I just stopped without thinking.”

Resuming her steps, Da Hyun shot a sidelong glance at his smug back. His way with words clearly betrayed experience dealing with women.

His looks were so coldly indifferent—he seemed the type who wouldn’t care if someone dropped dead right in front of him—yet he was incredibly sweet.

Playboy.

Da Hyun glared—not unkindly—at Min Hyuk as he handed the shopping bags to Driver Park and even courteously opened the back door for her.

He might as well not be so handsome.

She wasn’t the least bit curious about how many romantic relationships he’d had in the past. But it irked her. Just by looking at him, it was obvious he must have charmed countless women abroad—gently swaying their hearts wherever he went.

For the first time, she felt bitter about having no dating experience. Though she’d resolved the previous day to keep her distance, she’d somehow ended up developing feelings for him without even realizing it. It was utterly absurd.

“Flirt.”

“What?”

A faint crease formed on his otherwise smooth forehead.

Leaving the baffled Min Hyuk behind, Da Hyun climbed into the back seat and slammed the door shut with an audible thud—loud enough for him to notice her mood.

“Driver, please go quickly.”

“Yes.”

She wasn’t usually swayed easily by emotions, so why did she feel so unsettled now?

“It’s sleep deprivation.”

That’s why—it’s because I didn’t sleep. When I get home, I’ll sleep first. I’m just overly sensitive to trivial things because I haven’t slept.

Muttering softly to herself, Da Hyun closed her eyes, blaming her irritability on lack of sleep.

Min Hyuk clicked his tongue briefly at Da Hyun’s adorably sulky display, then watched the sedan carrying her drive away before turning around.

“She ought to realize I’m faithfully keeping my promise.”

Quietly murmuring something incomprehensible, Min Hyuk finally answered his persistently ringing phone only after she’d left.

“Stop calling so much. I’m spending some quiet time with my wife—do you really have to be this clueless?”

He let his irritation show plainly in his voice. Min Hyuk lazily watched as Driver Yoon, who had just arrived, opened the car door for him, then climbed into the sedan with a frosty gaze.

As soon as Da Hyun arrived home, she collapsed into sleep as if knocked out.

When she opened her eyes again, dusk had already fallen.

The nerves that had been frayed before sleeping had now settled down.

Thirsty, she went downstairs for water and, without even asking, the housekeeper—who hadn’t yet left work—kindly informed her he hadn’t returned home.

Da Hyun absentmindedly nodded. She took the plastic cup of water the housekeeper handed her and went back upstairs.

Making sure to lock her door, she began thinking seriously about Kang Min Hyuk.

“It’s definitely true that our first meeting was at that blind date.”

Then why does he seem to know so much about me?

Even that I’ve been hiding my real self and living as if acting a role.

He knew even the parts of me I’d never shown him—suspicion flared within her.

Da Hyun naturally recalled Si Hoon’s expression on the day of their first meeting—a face filled with loathing and utterly devoid of emotion.

Then again, how shocking must it have been for him? His former fiancée marrying Kang Min Hyuk, his own half-brother. His revulsion made perfect sense.

Well, it didn’t matter now anyway.

“Oh? Come to think of it…”

She no longer felt heartache when recalling the past.

Da Hyun blinked, astonished at how indifferent her emotions had become.

“Was I always this cold-hearted?”

Her grip tightened around the cup. Da Hyun swallowed a hollow laugh.

She didn’t know. Remembering the past used to make her chest ache and breathing difficult—but not anymore.

“Well, that’s for the best. It’s better than suffering over something I can’t even recall clearly.”

Da Hyun considered it fortunate that her feelings had faded. After all, they were emotions better left behind.

Min Hyuk entered not Chairman Kang’s hospital room, but the penthouse where Kang Si Hoon lived.

Si Hoon, already dressed casually in a tracksuit, greeted him as soon as he stepped inside.

He couldn’t tell her the truth, so he had no choice but to lie and say he was visiting Chairman Kang’s hospital room.

“Sit down. It’s just us, so relax. My wife and the kid went to her mom’s—they won’t be back for two days.”

Si Hoon welcomed Min Hyuk warmly, pulling a bottle of wine from the wine cellar and placing it on the dining table.

“Are you insane?”

Who keeps calling me nonstop?

Min Hyuk raised an eyebrow at Si Hoon, whose face alone was enough to stir up annoyance.

“I told you not to act overly familiar with me.”

Si Hoon flinched slightly at the icy tone, then twitched his lips.

“‘Insane’? Who do you think I’m playing the villain for? It’s hurtful when you say things like that! What am I supposed to be, then? Every time I saw your sister-in-law, I deliberately summoned the image of disgusting mushrooms to make my hatred obvious—just like you asked!”

His expression turned sulky as his mouth drooped at the corners. Min Hyuk sighed and pulled out a dining chair to sit down.

“What’s the point of giving a pleasant impression to a woman you’ve only met once at a blind date? Planning to cheat on me or something?”

Unlike the ever-smooth Si Hoon, Min Hyuk replied coldly. Si Hoon, who had been fetching wine glasses, flared up instantly at the word “cheat.”

“Hey! Why do you have to say something so terrifying? You know how much I love my wife! Don’t even utter such filthy words!”

Despite his outburst, he carefully placed the glassware on the table so it wouldn’t break.

As if prepared in advance, a wide, flat plate filled with Camembert and fruit cheese was immediately set next to the wine glasses.

Si Hoon rubbed his palms together and sat down opposite Min Hyuk.

Then, skillfully uncorking the wine, he poured some into Min Hyuk’s glass. Min Hyuk remained silent, simply watching Si Hoon’s actions.

Si Hoon filled his own glass and subtly checked Min Hyuk’s expression.

“By the way, does your sister-in-law still not remember you?”

Only Kang Si Hoon would summon someone to his home just two days after their wedding.

“What exactly do you want that you kept calling me relentlessly?”

Min Hyuk could have ignored Si Hoon’s call—but didn’t. Si Hoon had always gone out of his way to keep Min Hyuk’s existence hidden from the outside world, and this was Min Hyuk’s way of repaying that effort.

Though Min Hyuk had told Da Hyun that he and Si Hoon didn’t get along, that wasn’t true. They weren’t exactly warm and friendly, but neither were they hostile rivals snapping at each other.

Despite being half-brothers, Si Hoon had treated Min Hyuk like a real younger brother—seeing Min Hyuk for who he was, separate from their mother’s actions.

“Just be honest. You’re legally married now—surely you’re not planning to run away?”

Si Hoon raised his wine glass and cut straight to the point without lengthy explanations.

Min Hyuk understood exactly what Si Hoon meant by “honest.”

He didn’t drink the wine, merely tracing the base of his glass with his index finger as he snorted.

“You don’t know our Da Hyun’s personality. It might not be running away—she might just coldly declare she never wants to see me again and walk off.”

Though even if she did, he’d stop at nothing to make her look back at him again.

Si Hoon downed his entire glass in one gulp and shook his head.

“Anyway, since I share some responsibility, I’m helping you—but if Mi Kyung finds out, she’ll kill me.”

“You ought to remember how your dearly beloved Mi Kyung became your wife in the first place.”

“I know, I know! That’s why I’m not asking anything and just doing exactly what you say!”

Si Hoon’s voice cracked as he recalled the past two years. He’d built a family, but another had lost something precious because of his choice—and it weighed heavily on his heart.

“Then keep doing exactly as I say going forward. And when you meet Da Hyun, don’t let anything suspicious slip.”

Min Hyuk remembered how she’d kept staring at Si Hoon during their first meeting.

Rage surged so intensely it made his stomach churn and his head throb—but he suppressed it. He had to.

“Suspicious slip? Why do you always phrase things so oddly? No way. And you’re certainly not the kind of person who’d leave me alone with your sister-in-law anyway.”

“You know that well enough.”

The corner of his mouth loosened into a faint smile. Si Hoon took a long breath in and slowly exhaled.

“Min Hyuk, as someone who’s been through it—I’m telling you, it’s better to confess secrets to your partner quickly. You’ll regret it otherwise.”

“I’ve never regretted it—neither then nor now.”

“You’re still not thinking clearly. It’s because you haven’t truly experienced it yourself.”

Si Hoon worried about Min Hyuk’s choices—but since he was already an accomplice in this matter, he couldn’t scold or reprimand him.

“But is it love? Well, it must be—if you couldn’t let go of your sister-in-law for two whole years and finally brought her close like this.”

“Yeah, it’s love. Deep, desperate love.”

Min Hyuk smiled happily as he thought of Da Hyun. Si Hoon asked no further questions and instead speared a piece of fragrant cheese with his fork and popped it into his mouth.

Seeing Min Hyuk hadn’t even touched his wine, Si Hoon began drinking alone—as if accustomed to it.

Five hours later

“Min Hyuk, even if we have different mothers… I really like you. Ugh…”

“You’re disgustingly drunk.”

Min Hyuk clicked his tongue as if he’d expected Si Hoon would get drunk. He glanced at the three empty wine bottles sprawled beside Si Hoon, then looked at his friend with a mix of pity and exasperation.

“Seriously, I could only marry Mi Kyung because of you. Ugh…”

“Yeah, make sure you never forget that—not for a single moment.”

“But hey, it’s also thanks to me that you met your sister-in-law. Ugh…”

“I liked that your tongue wasn’t slurring even when drunk—but right now, I find it incredibly annoying.”

Unlike them, Kang Si Hoon’s wife came from an ordinary family. When they’d decided to marry, Chairman Kang had fiercely opposed it. But after many twists and turns, they became husband and wife and now had a child together.

Though Si Hoon currently held the position of chairman of HG Group in place of Chairman Kang, he felt burdened by it—so much so that he’d even wanted to hand the role to Min Hyuk.

But Min Hyuk had refused, leaving Si Hoon no choice but to temporarily fill the role during Chairman Kang’s absence.

Chairman Kang remained completely unaware of these intricate details—it was a matter settled solely between Si Hoon and Min Hyuk.

Tiring of Si Hoon’s drunken rambling, Min Hyuk prepared to head home. Though he didn’t expect she’d be waiting for him, the mere thought that Han Da Hyun was in the house he was returning to filled him with quiet satisfaction.

Si Hoon, thoroughly drunk, watched Min Hyuk get ready to leave while resting his chin in his hand.

“Two years ago, when you happened to return to Korea! If I hadn’t begged and pleaded with you to go to that blind date in my place and smooth things over with Chairman Kang so it wouldn’t reach his ears—you’d never have met your sister-in-law. Ugh…”

“Hah, should I take a photo of this pathetic scene and send it to my sister-in-law?”

Knowing Mi Kyung disliked seeing Si Hoon drunk, Min Hyuk briefly considered sending her a serious photo, picked up his phone, then put it down again—too lazy to even take the picture.

Min Hyuk’s words didn’t register in Si Hoon’s heavily intoxicated ears.

Calling him a hypocrite, Si Hoon continued:

“After that, I was surprised you kept meeting your sister-in-law without telling me—but what shocked me even more was when she got into that car accident. Ugh…”

“…”

“She doesn’t remember any moment she spent with you.”

Si Hoon lamented as if it were the saddest thing in the world. Min Hyuk clenched his fists tightly, closed his eyes, then slowly lifted his eyelids again.

Regret With All Your Might (Completed Main Story)

27/12/2025
Side Story 5 Side Story 4

When yandere male lead believes she loves him — but she never did

“How dare you!”

“How dare you make me love you, only to cast me aside as nothing more than a friend?!?

“I will never accept that.”

“I will never let you return to him.”

“Even if I have to burn myself to ashes.”

“Even if I must shatter my purity, my dignity, my very soul.”

“I will never let you escape me!”

This was the first novel that introduced me to the matriarchal genre. I’ve read it three times already!

At first, the male lead despised the female lead. Later, he misunderstood that she liked him, so he condescendingly and reluctantly reciprocated her feelings.

Then, he suddenly discovered that she was kind to everyone in the same way, and there was already someone she cherished in her heart, and that person was not him.

The male lead couldn’t believe it, he became angry and crazy. He was determined to capture her body and heart by any means necessary.

Synopsis:

Want to see how a green tea bitch male lead falls in love with the female lead?

Want to see how he flirtatiously pursues the female lead?

Want to see how he gets slapped in the face repeatedly?

The male lead is a green tea bitch, a poisonous lotus, jealous, ruthless, unscrupulous, with a venomous heart, and he’s also a delusional maniac.

The female lead is righteous, positive energy-filled, kind, a holy mother.

Let’s see how two people with extreme personalities come together~

You’re bound to regret it if you skip this novel. Read the review & spoiler to find out what you might be missing!
