Si Hoon said he was fine, yet looked embarrassed.
Da Hyun wanted to ask Si Hoon something. Since it was already in the past, she thought she could ask him comfortably.
She was curious. Two years ago, how had things gone so badly between them that Su Cheol had said those things?
If she had run into Si Hoon like this before marrying Min Hyuk, she wouldn’t have been able to ask. But now, she felt she could ask without hesitation.
She’d expected it to feel familiar since they’d met two years ago. Even though they were alone together like this and seemed perfectly at ease, it didn’t feel like a bad connection—so why had things ended poorly?

Before she knew it, the elevator stopped in the basement. But Si Hoon didn’t get off; instead, he pressed the button for the 36th floor.
The elevator doors opened, then closed again and went up.
The 36th floor was right below the chairman’s office.
“Oh, this is a good place to talk. I often use this spot when speaking with Min Hyuk. Employees aren’t allowed to come and go freely on the 36th floor.”
“I see.”
She’d thought being alone with Si Hoon might trigger some memory, but nothing came to mind.
“It’s about what happened between us two years ago…”
“Huh? Ah… two years ago?”
Si Hoon hadn’t expected Da Hyun to bring up the incident from two years ago, and suddenly realized what mistake he’d just made.
No matter what, he absolutely couldn’t be the one to reveal what happened two years ago to Da Hyun. He couldn’t break his promise to Min Hyuk—if he did, Min Hyuk’s fury would be obvious.
Si Hoon gave an awkward laugh and raised his hand to rub the back of his neck.
He should’ve said he didn’t have time.
He hadn’t anticipated she’d ask about it after two whole years.
The calm composure Si Hoon had just moments ago vanished, replaced by clear panic.
Da Hyun wondered if she’d acted too rashly and put Si Hoon in an awkward position.
She didn’t actually want her memories back—after all, it wasn’t causing her any trouble in daily life.
Would anything really change even if she asked Si Hoon?
“…I just meant, I wonder how things would’ve turned out if I’d met Mr. Min Hyuk first two years ago.”
Da Hyun didn’t want to press Si Hoon further while he was clearly uncomfortable.
By now, the elevator had reached the 36th floor.
She felt bad for stopping Si Hoon after work and taking up his time.
“Oh, um, right! I should’ve met Min Hyuk two years ago—I’m really sorry.”
“Oh, no! There’s no reason for you to apologize, Brother-in-law. We didn’t even choose to go on that blind date ourselves.”

While they spoke, the elevator doors opened. Da Hyun felt uncomfortable being alone with Si Hoon and no longer wanted to stay in the elevator with him.
She gave a slight bow as a polite gesture to Si Hoon, then stepped past him and got off on the 36th floor.
She’d wait a bit for Si Hoon to leave, then decide whether to return to the chairman’s office or head down to the lobby once the elevator came back up.
“You must be busy, Brother-in-law. I feel like I took up too much of your time. Please go ahead. Next time, I’ll meet you together with Min Hyuk.”
“Alright. Please take care on your way home, Sister-in-law.”
Da Hyun glanced absently at the wristwatch Si Hoon was wearing, then turned around.
At that moment, as she turned her back, a sudden flash of memory shot through her mind, making her face turn pale.
Her phone rang, but she couldn’t answer it.
She spun around and reached out just as the elevator doors Si Hoon was in were about to close.
“Wait a moment!”
Si Hoon, startled by her sudden approach, quickly pressed the open button as the doors began closing.
When the doors reopened, Da Hyun’s eyes locked onto the wristwatch on Si Hoon’s left wrist.
Her gaze pierced sharply into the watch Si Hoon wore.
“Sister-in-law, is there something you couldn’t say earlier?”
“…It’s the first time.”
“Huh…?”
For the first time, a fragmented memory from two years ago surfaced in her mind.
But it was a phrase easily misunderstood if overheard by others. Si Hoon stared at her with a blank, slightly open-mouthed expression.
If Min Hyuk had heard it, he’d have glared at him murderously.
But Da Hyun, caught up in the fleeting image that had just flashed through her mind, instinctively grabbed Si Hoon’s wrist without even realizing it.
Si Hoon, startled by her sudden grip, couldn’t pull away and stammered in confusion.

That fleeting image had clearly shown the exact place where she and Si Hoon had sat during their blind date two years ago.
Si Hoon was still wearing a watch of the same design as back then—but on the opposite wrist.
What frustrated her more was that this first returning memory fragment only brought back the location of their blind date and which wrist he’d worn the watch on.
She’d assumed her memories wouldn’t return since no flashes had come back since the accident. The doctor had comforted her, saying forgotten memories might resurface if her brain received the right stimulus from her past.
“Mr. Kang Si Hoon, weren’t you left-handed?”
“Huh?”
“I tried writing with my right hand, but it just never felt natural.”
Living without her memories hadn’t been inconvenient, but now that a fragment had surfaced, it nagged at her.

They were both exactly alike in how recklessly they charged headfirst into things.
“By the way, Sister-in-law, what should we do? I have a dinner appointment with my wife, so I really can’t stay any longer.”
Si Hoon had found a convenient excuse to distance himself from Da Hyun. If she kept questioning him, she might realize the person who’d spent time with her two years ago wasn’t actually him.
If her memory hadn’t returned, it wouldn’t matter—but now that she was digging into details, it was problematic.
Fortunately, Da Hyun didn’t press further and stepped back, giving a brief bow.
Meanwhile, the elevator, which had been stationary, began moving downward.
“I’ll invite you to our house next time, Brother-in-law. I made a lot of mistakes today.”
Si Hoon knew all too well what Min Hyuk had done to marry Da Hyun.
He couldn’t tell whether it was good or bad that she might regain her memories.

Si Hoon resisted the urge to wipe the cold sweat from his brow and kept up his smile. Ultimately, it was up to the two of them to untangle their knotted threads—no third party like him could change anything.
“Yes, please come with Hyungnim, Brother-in-law.”
Da Hyun intended to get off the elevator as soon as it stopped on any floor.
She wanted time to reflect more on that fleeting image from just now.

The elevator stopped again at the first floor, and the doors opened. As soon as they did, Da Hyun gave a quick bow and stepped out.

“You’re ruthless. Feels good getting your way, huh?”

When Min Hyuk answered shamelessly without even trying to dodge the jab, Chang Jung pinched his temple in exasperation.
He’d originally planned to summon him to the mansion but worried Min Hyuk or Da Hyun might feel uncomfortable, so he’d called him to the office instead.
Chang Jung had considered their comfort by choosing the office. Though Chang Jung himself found the office more comfortable than the mansion, Da Hyun apparently hadn’t felt at ease.
When Chang Jung scolded him, lamenting he should’ve just called them to his mansion to avoid the hassle, Min Hyuk picked up his phone and called Da Hyun.
But she didn’t answer.
Surely she hadn’t run into Si Hoon.
Min Hyuk stood up, ready to go look for her.
“Where are you going, you brat?”
“To find my wife.”
“She’s not a child—she’ll come back on her own.”
Chang Jung knew Da Hyun had deliberately stepped away to give them space.
“Even so, I’m worried and need to go find her. Once I’ve found Da Hyun, we’ll head straight home. We have to visit your house for dinner tonight.”
Min Hyuk was endlessly gentle with Da Hyun but utterly cold toward Chang Jung.
Chang Jung had known since two years ago that Min Hyuk acted for Da Hyun’s sake, yet never bothered to stop him.
“Fine, go ahead. Next time, come to the house.”
“I’ll think about it.”
Min Hyuk gave a brief nod and left the chairman’s office.
“That two-faced bastard.”
Chang Jung sighed and shook his head, having anticipated exactly this would happen once Min Hyuk succeeded in marrying Da Hyun.
