In the end, unable to reach Se Ah by phone, Kang Woo abruptly stood up from his seat.

His mind, which had been functioning smoothly just moments ago, now buzzed like a broken machine.

Not only his arms and legs, but even his fingertips and toes felt stiff—his entire body seized up so tightly that lifting a single foot proved difficult. With sheer willpower, he regained his composure and snatched the car keys.

“Sir, where are you going all of a sudden? There’s an executives’ meeting in 30 minutes.”

His previously composed superior now seemed utterly unhinged. His face, pale to the point of ashen, bloomed with patches of angry red.

“Sir, please calm down.”

Secretary Choi grabbed Kang Woo’s arm as he tried to ignore her and walk out. Though visibly flustered—having never seen him this agitated before—she firmly yet calmly urged him to stay.

“You’ll cause an accident if you drive like this. Please stay calm, sir.”

“Secretary Choi. Step aside.”

His voice dropped to a frigid, sub-zero timbre, heavy with authority.

“Two bodyguards are currently accompanying Madam. She may just be temporarily unreachable. I’ll try connecting again right away—if she doesn’t answer this time, I’ll report it to the police.”

“Even you, Secretary Choi—who knows the situation—tries to stop me. What more can the police do but tell me to wait?”

Kang Woo’s lips twisted coldly, almost in mockery. He firmly pushed her aside and reached for the doorknob—when his phone rang. It was Se Ah.
