Safely sending the final manuscript to the main writer, Se Ah then came to the hospital. The ten-odd minutes to the VIP ward felt unbearably long.

Around six o’clock, she saw Kang Woo’s message stating the test results had come out. Curious, she called him, but only received a calm reply: [If you’re interested, just come here yourself and hear it in person.]

No matter how persistently she asked him to just tell her, it was useless. His firm decision wouldn’t change. Yet, had he seemed displeased? Not at all.

He asked whether she’d eaten, whether anything unusual had happened, and whether she missed him. The call ended smoothly, without any awkwardness, concluding only with words of encouragement for her hard work—but he never uttered a single word about the test results.

‘Ah… Cha Gang Woo…’

He was truly a master at making her suffer from sheer confusion every now and then.

Even though they’d known each other for exactly nine years—she had devoted her entire heart to Cha Gang Woo, while he’d only truly looked at her for less than a year.

Yet why did it feel as if he understood her even better than she did herself? How to act to love him more, to fuss over him and pour attention on him—he handled her almost annoyingly well at times.

Passing the nurses’ desk and turning just around the corner, she’d reach the ward. Quickening her steps as she rounded the bend, she bumped—*thud*—into a nurse who was walking briskly, eyes fixed on a chart.

The nurse stumbled and nearly fell, but Se Ah tightly caught her arm. The records the nurse hadn’t managed to hold slipped from her grasp and scattered across the floor.

“Are you all right?”

“Oh—I’m so sorry.”

Se Ah crouched down beside her and gathered the fallen documents. Calmly sorting them, they both stood up together.

“Here you go.”

“Thank you so much.”
