The meal continued quietly.

Yoo Gun found this silence oddly comforting. There was no pressure to say anything, and more than anything, he was satisfied by the fact that spending time with Eun Hye—without a single word exchanged—felt neither awkward nor dull, but genuinely pleasant.

Wishing this moment would last as long as possible, Yoo Gun deliberately slowed his movements as he sliced the meat. But his wish was abruptly shattered by Eun Hye’s voice, causing all his motions to freeze instantly.

“I truly hope today is the very last time.”

Yoo Gun snapped awake as if struck hard on the head.

Unlike Eun Hye, who wanted to draw a final line, Yoo Gun felt he’d only just stepped onto the starting line—finally seeing Kwon Eun Hye not as his younger sister’s secretary, but as a woman.

When had this feeling started? Had it been during their fresh, innocent college days when they first met?

“Am I really that uncomfortable for you?”

“A boss’s family member can never be comfortable to be around.”

Though those were his own words, hearing them spoken so directly felt entirely different. The phrase, like a thorn lodged in his throat, stung sharply—severing the two of them completely.

The sudden, crystal-clear distance tore at Yoo Gun’s insides. Meanwhile, utterly unaware of his turmoil, Eun Hye—assuming it was only natural—tried her best to leave some room for understanding.
