A Light Contract (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 6
I wasn’t even surprised anymore.
“Have you had lunch yet, Team Leader Jin?”
“Did you enjoy your meal with the CEO, Pianist Oh Se Jin?”
“Please feel free to call me casually.”
Looking at Se Jin’s noticeably more relaxed face, Yura suddenly thought of the word “damn dog.”
If this hadn’t been the workplace, she really would’ve called him exactly that. If their meeting weren’t tied to work, maybe Yura could’ve at least exchanged a simple greeting with him.
Though he’d shown not even a speck of decency at their parting, she’d accepted that as the measure of his character and concluded it reflected his true nature. Therefore, she held absolutely no lingering feelings for Se Jin.
The sole reason Yura felt so sharp toward Se Jin was the unpleasantness stemming from his shameless desire—to deliberately tie himself back to her and revive a relationship that had long since ended.
“No, I can’t be so rude to an artist who deserves proper respect.”
“But I’m fine with it.”
Yura deliberately maintained a strictly professional tone, speaking with a rigid, icy inflection as if erecting an impenetrable wall. At her words and demeanor, he gave an awkward, embarrassed smile, his face full of lingering regret.
She never would’ve dreamed there’d come a day when his face would make her feel disgusted. Yura carefully scanned Oh Se Jin’s features.
Clearly, he hadn’t changed much—but whereas before she’d felt nothing, now that revulsion hit her so strongly it nearly made her gag. Hiding this unpleasant, repulsive emotion behind a shadowy veil, Yura gently curved her lips into a soft smile.
“What brings you here?”
“I have something to discuss regarding the rehearsal room.”
“We’re currently coordinating with the nearest available rehearsal space and schedule. Until then, I’d appreciate it if you could use the piano set up in your hotel room, even though it might be slightly inconvenient.”
“Can I cancel that rehearsal room?”
Just as things seemed to be going smoothly, yet another unexpected snag arose. Yura barely suppressed an involuntary sigh.
Canceling the rehearsal room wasn’t a major issue—it was still only a verbal agreement. But the distinct impression that he was deliberately causing trouble left an unpleasant, uneasy feeling.
“Is there… some kind of problem?”
He glanced briefly around the open office space where they stood talking. Yura understood exactly what that look meant. She should’ve led him into a meeting room or her private office when they first ran into each other.
However, Yura had deliberately avoided being alone with him and thus hadn’t left this awkward spot. Though she clearly knew why he hesitated to speak openly, she pretended not to notice and held out as long as possible.
“It’s fine—please speak freely.”
“I’d prefer to talk somewhere quieter.”
Realizing she couldn’t hold out any longer, Yura slowly nodded and turned to lead Se Jin toward her office.
Aware that some employees were subtly watching them, Yura intentionally didn’t lower the blinds. Gesturing for him to take a comfortable seat, she walked over to the coffee machine set up by the window.
“What kind of tea would you like?”
“It’s alright.”
Yura inserted a capsule for herself into the machine, then turned to face Se Jin.
He was still standing beside the sofa, watching her but not sitting down. Slowly brushing his knuckles was one of his habits whenever he had something to say.
She wanted to ask what he was trying to say, but didn’t want him to know she still remembered his little quirks, so she chose different words instead.
“Please sit down.”
“Could you lower the blinds?”
“Oh, sure.”
Yura answered belatedly, just as the coffee machine stopped brewing, and walked over to her desk. She pulled the remote from the pencil holder and lowered the blinds on the window overlooking the office.
“Alright, now…”
“Why did you cut your hair?”
Se Jin’s hand reached out and lightly brushed Yura’s short hair.
Thud. Yura sharply slapped his hand away as she leaned her upper body sideways to create distance.
Why did these men feel entitled to touch someone else’s body so casually? Yura’s face twisted in disgust.
Se Jin’s movement reminded her of Lee Hyun, whom she’d met just days ago. Both their shameless actions filled her with intense irritation—so much that she felt an urge to file a complaint if possible.
Yura brushed past Se Jin standing near her feet and headed back toward the coffee machine. In a cold, cutting tone, she sharply reprimanded him.
“Pianist Oh Se Jin. Please show some manners.”
“Well, short hair suits you too.”
“Hah.”
Yura let out a quiet sigh as she picked up her coffee cup. He’d acted the same way in the car last time—showing his true colors as soon as they were alone.
“Did you cut it because of me?”
“Are you dissatisfied with the rehearsal room?”
Ignoring his question—so unworthy of an answer—she tried to resume their earlier conversation.
Disappointment and hurt were evident in Se Jin’s eyes as he looked at Yura. But she simply stared back at him coolly and steadily, as if he weren’t even worth mocking.

“Hmm, right. This is the office, after all.”
Se Jin raised his hands, visibly shifting his attitude.
“I’d like to use the rehearsal room I used back when I was active.”
Se Jin didn’t specify exactly which rehearsal room or where it was located. But as he’d expected, Yura remembered the place perfectly.
She’d driven him there countless times—it would’ve been impossible to forget. Even though it had been five years since she’d last gone there, she could still find it instantly if needed.
“It’s a bit far out of the city center, but I’d feel more comfortable in a familiar space.”
A concert planner must always accommodate the artist’s preferences as much as possible. That had always been the rule, and always would be. So she needed to accept his sudden, unreasonable whim with generous patience.
“I’ll contact the caretaker first…”
“I own it now. By good fortune, an opportunity came up, so I bought it.”
If that’s the case, he could’ve just said he wanted to use his privately owned rehearsal room—why go through such a roundabout way of explaining?
His behavior didn’t seem meaningless, yet she couldn’t quite grasp what he was really trying to convey.
“Understood. I’ll arrange a vehicle and driver to assist your move to that location.”
“You do it.”
At his sudden, impolite phrasing, Yura frowned. Catching himself, he quickly corrected himself with a smile.
“I mean, please let Team Leader Jin handle it.”
So absorbed in their increasingly tense exchange that she’d forgotten to drink her coffee, Yura looked down at the lukewarm cup with distaste and set it down by the window.
She then placed both hands demurely over her lower abdomen, adopting a respectfully formal posture as she stared directly at Se Jin.
It was her subtle way of warning him to show proper courtesy and consideration. In a dry tone, punctuating each word clearly, she spoke firmly.
“Pianist Oh Se Jin. I oversee numerous concert productions. I will ensure your transportation arrangements are seamless. I ask that you please understand my position.”
After a brief pause, Se Jin straightened his posture and replied in an artificially stern voice.
“Isn’t taking care of me also part of your job, Team Leader Jin?”
He wasn’t wrong. It was true she was expected to go to any lengths for the artist’s convenience. Only now did she fully realize that just as she’d changed since then, so had Se Jin.
He was no longer the same Oh Se Jin from back then—the one who’d always apologized and worried about her feelings. He’d become a shrewd man who clearly understood his entitlements and knew exactly how to demand them.
Yura took a quiet breath, pausing to assess the situation. Unless she wanted the concert canceled, she’d have to accept his request—even if it felt distasteful.
She considered assigning someone else to handle him, but one of Songrim’s conditions for the performance was that she personally manage it, making that impossible too. With cancellation and reassignment both off the table, she had only one option.
“Alright. Then please inform me of your rehearsal schedule going forward.”
Reminding herself that yielding was the best course of action, Yura accepted Se Jin’s request.
Just as she lifted her gaze after bowing her head respectfully, she caught a fleeting sneer cross his face. She was certain she hadn’t imagined it—and instantly sensed that Oh Se Jin was wearing a carefully constructed mask toward her.
She just couldn’t tell yet what purpose that mask served. As he took a step closer, his gaze dropping to conceal his cold eyes, she tensed.
“Right now.”
A damp breath brushed past her ear, making the hairs on her neck stand on end.
“I need to go right now—do you have time?”
Yura clenched her fists and pushed Se Jin firmly by the shoulders.
He stepped back obediently, raising both hands with a smile on his lips—a smile that now felt utterly hollow and sinister.
“It’s far from the hotel, but not so far from this art center, is it?”
“Please wait just a moment.”
Yura gave a calm nod and walked past Se Jin.
As Se Jin watched her leave the office—presumably to give instructions to staff—he quickly scanned her office space.
“It feels even more barren now. Not even a single potted plant.”
In Se Jin’s memory, Yura had always been a somewhat dry, reserved woman.
They’d dated, exchanged words of love, and lived like any ordinary couple—but she’d never shown that warm, affectionate tenderness. Even her repeated “I love you”s had often sounded flat and emotionless.
He’d always chalked it up to her naturally aloof personality, but now, years later, she seemed even more desolate than before.
A moment later, Yura returned, picked up her bag, and calmly urged him to leave.
“Let’s go.”
Se Jin still wore his gentle expression as he followed Yura’s lead.
Employees who’d watched them leave the office began gathering in small groups.
“What do you think’s going on?”
“Right? Team Leader’s expression didn’t look good at all.”
Recalling Yura’s unusually dark expression, Team Leader Jung spoke with concern. As the two clueless colleagues stared at the door Yura had disappeared through, Ji Hye hesitantly glanced around the group.
“Um… you know…”

Sung Hoon raised an eyebrow at Ji Hye, signaling her to just say what she wanted to say. As all eyes turned to her, Ji Hye glanced around nervously and lowered her voice.
“My friend majored in piano—and she said she knows him, Pianist Oh Se Jin.”
“Oh—unexpected connection.”
“But according to my friend, right before Oh Se Jin went abroad for studies, he dated someone…”
The staff held their breath as Ji Hye paused. Covering her mouth with her hand as if revealing a huge secret, she whispered dramatically.
“Supposedly… it was our team leader.”
Instant silence fell over the office. The shocking revelation froze everyone’s thoughts—no one dared to speak first.
Finally, Team Leader Jung broke the silence with a skeptical frown, and murmurs immediately erupted again.
When yandere male lead believes she loves him — but she never did
“How dare you!”
“How dare you make me love you, only to cast me aside as nothing more than a friend?!?
“I will never accept that.”
“I will never let you return to him.”
“Even if I have to burn myself to ashes.”
“Even if I must shatter my purity, my dignity, my very soul.”
“I will never let you escape me!”

This was the first novel that introduced me to the matriarchal genre. I’ve read it three times already!
At first, the male lead despised the female lead. Later, he misunderstood that she liked him, so he condescendingly and reluctantly reciprocated her feelings.
Then, he suddenly discovered that she was kind to everyone in the same way, and there was already someone she cherished in her heart, and that person was not him.
The male lead couldn’t believe it, he became angry and crazy. He was determined to capture her body and heart by any means necessary.
